Bought a 750ss yesterday that has been "up the road", the intention was to build it as standard but have a few bits lying around and think it will take the shape of an F1. Managed to get it fired up this afternoon after a few hickup's and it sounds tight enough so may be a quick build if I do not get fed up as this tends to take the course.

Looking better already think single seat will be the order, damage to one of the cans either cut it down and make a stubby or a two into one I remember on the pantah a two into one allowed it to rev more freely may take that route. Not sure about the ss headlight may go for the enduro twin headlight set up which used two carrello spots similar to what was used on the Ford XR2 fog lights.Looking for another disc and caliper think the twin disc fills the front end better.

And NickyT on Ducatisti is desperate for a headlight if yours is to be going spare.

Mend and make do!

Tackled the exhaust this morning cut the rash out of the can reduced the length to 225mm.I marked the can and wrapped tape around it to give a clear visible line (saves on buying glasses)then used a skinny cutting disc which worked a treat.

The baffle tube that was in there had been opened out at the ends to accept the inlet and outlet pipes but I had some tube in stock the correct i/d so cut a new length.

The wadding was shot that came out of the exhaust also noticed that the perforated tube had not been wrapped in stainless wool first, the reason for doing this is it helps keep the wadding in place longer as it does not get broken up and blown out with the pulses sent through the exhaust. It took a mtr of wadding to fill a 100 dia tube if ye ever need to order some. Also managed to almost polish out the rash on the stainless end cap, who said stubby cant be sexy?:) p.s. the rivets were deliberately not aligned as I know I would have hit an existing hole and any loose rivets would have fallen out.

I just did the same thing earlier this week except I was replacing the alloy sleeves with carbon ones which were only 30mm shorter. It was remarkably easy :)

Started to tackle the wiring this afternoon did not want to use the cluttered array that the SS uses up front so trying to move all wiring back under the tank where the battery was sited. Have moved the battery under the seat tail and trying not to cut too much loom. If nothing else it will keep alzheimer's at bay a short while. If nothing else it will keep alzheimer's at bay a short while. If nothing else it will keep alzheimer's at bay a short while.:)

Hi Derek, what dia were the sleves and where did you purchase from? I am looking for 100mm or 4" dia carbon to make a show of face baffle on a reverse cone exhaust but will only need two pieces at around 100mm long. Sam

Hi Sam. I bought them off eBay for £40. They were replacement sleeves for Ducati Performance cans. The guy was selling them because he had bought them from Italy to fit to his OEM alloy cans then found they were 50mm to short. They are 110mm OD, 3mm wall thickness and 450mm long.
PJ Engineering should be able to supply you with carbon tube but I think 96mm ID is as near as you will get to a 100mm OD.

Thank you! I have ordered 98.2 i/d this will fit the ends I had pressed also got some 3" perforated baffle tube.:)

I had been speaking to my mate Davie (swona) as I was going to fab a two into one for the ss and monster and he started telling me about a twin port Rotax he had been working on, could not get it above a certain bhp he then put two separate silencers onto the headers and gained 10hp straight away header dia upto 4" then return to 3" over 24" then 4" dia tube 4" long filled with wadding reconed was enough to cool it down. I live out in the country so as long as it sounds baritone that will do for me.

Forgot I had these, found a set of rearsets I bought early October found them when I was looking for something else last night gave my calipers a clean in the sonic cleaner as well.
