Another 239?

You could do with a single in the collection! ;) :lol2:

One of 250 produced and has been altered to make it look like a Desmo.

The 239 models are pretty rare and if it was mine I would put it back to standard Mk3 spec as I don't think this "conversion" works if you look at a standard Desmo by comparison.

As for your red fixation..........................therapy could be the answer. :p :D

How much do you estimate the conversion to original would cost and is it a job which could only be done by professionals?

Just asking.;)

Mary at a quick glance it is a tank and a seat.
If you had the bits maybe.........20 minutes?
Personally I think the seat just doesn't look right sitting on the frame. If you look at a Desmo you will see what I mean.
I'm assuming the frame hasn't been modded but John Fallon would tell you.
The 239 ended up being quicker and sweeter than the 250 although I suspect that was an accident rather than careful planning!
As John says in the main page of his advert, Ducati sleeved the 250 down to 239 for the French market.
They upped the compression and put on a 30mm carb instead of the 29 to compensate and produced what is generally accepted to be the sweetest of the singles.
Difficult to put a value on it as it is. It is one of these bikes you either want it or you don't and if you do you just have to decide if you can justify the cost on basis you won't be selling it anyway.
If you are being tempted by a single it night be worth having a wee look around at what's out there. Whether it's a Mk3 or a Desmo or even one of the earlier ones.
If you are getting twitchy send me a pm and I'll give you a couple of names to speak to that may have something for sale.
The bevel revolution gathers momentum! ;) :D

What about the orange paint job?
Not to mention the Conti silencer, Amal carb, modern switch gear, QA throttle and the missing side panels. ;)

Some of the Mk3's came with a red frame.
The Conti wasn't original but I prefer the look of it to the Silentium and Lafranconi of the time and it sounds better.
Easy to convert back if you wanted to be completely original and I think the silencer is about £80.
Carb, the Amal was a popular conversion from the Dellorto ( I guess there was a reason why so many did) and I would happily live with that.
If you are looking for a concours example then this isn't the bike but tbh I have found that very few folk (including Ducatisti) at shows etc have a clue about these bikes anyway and you win a prize if it's shiny! By the time you tell them the history behind the bike the judges will believe the Conti/Amal etc were standard for that model anyway! :D

I was being deliberately pedantic Stewart. :lol2:
I'd love the bike - apart from the orange paint job.
All the rest of the mods are definite improvements, especially getting rid of the dreadful switchgear.
