Anyone any experience with Heated Gloves, getting on a bit now lol and fingers starting to suffer, even with damart undergloves and my hein gericke penguin gloves Ive still suffered over the last week, have had heated grips before and they were good, but I suppose with gloves I can take em from bike to bike and even on the footy

was in my local Triumph dealer yesterday and they have 25% of clothing making heated gloves just over £100, they say they are great ( but they would )

I bought some HELD heated gloves that are battery powered a few years ago, as I didn't fancy having to plug/unplug the the wires each time. Basically the heating aspect is fine when you are standing still (great for clearing snow off the car!) but rubbish once you are moving at 40mph+ I''ve got heated grips on the new bike and they are great, but as you said harder to transfer from bike to bike or use elsewhere. In future I'll stick with heated grips and a decent pair of (unheated) winter gloves.

I have to agree, heated grips are less hassle! These days they are reasonably inexpensive and work very well (I just fitted a pair to my SC as well). When it gets below zero I use bar muffs as it's really the wind chill that gets you. Saying that, this week I only used heated grips and a glove liner and I was OK for my commute......the heated vest was out for the first time in a couple of years though!

I bought a pair of Gerbing heated gloves a year or so ago. Overall I'd say they are a good thing - they heat the tops of your hands as well as the palms, so better all-round warmth than simply heated grips if you are prone to feel the cold in your hands. The downside is fiddling about with the wiring before you get going, but you get used to it fairly quickly. I find they work well at high speed and don't seem to be too affected by the wind chill factor.

They look amazing! might try those under my normal gloves in conjunction with the two stage heated grips on my GS! Also the March edition of Ride magazine has a small piece on Oxford Inox heated gloves £150:eek:
Gav.

Hi Gav,
silk gloves less than a tenner, wife uses them when we ski and swears by them, maybe I'm just getting soft

Gloves for me

Had heated grips on a previous V Strom 650 lovely at low speeds but 50mph or more useless as not feel benefit at all. Also even at low speeds the backs of my hands were always cold. Now use gloves, which have elements running up the back of the glove and each finger, much better results hands never been that cold yet. Mine are made by Klan, admittedly wiring is a bit cumbersome and messy, but advantage is a spare harness for each bike and you sorted, hey presto. Maybe gloves with a rechargeable battery pack would be easier to use

suppose it depends on individuals, I was out Friday for a couple of hrs and my fingers were pretty dam cold, around Dunsop Bridge I would have sold my soul to stick my hands anywhere warm

Heres some battery powered ones:)cd use em on any bike...cant find any power consumption figures for the 12v gloves, but always worried about load on charging curcuit/alternator....mind you, guess there not gonna glow red!:lol2:

Can't see any link?

Be careful with Gerbing heated gloves, if you do not buy the thermostat they can burn your hands at close contact points, nuckles etc.

I have pair of heated inner gloves that I bought 35 years ago and they still work well but the wiring is a fankle, having to thread it up your jacket and down your sleeves. The current they draw is bugger all. They worked on 1970's bikes with no problem with the charging problems. I'm sure that their modern equivalents on modern bikes will present no problems whatsoever.
If you really want warm hands why not fit heated grips and heated gloves, battery powered or otherwise.

I can also recommend Gerbing gloves, I've got the inner liners and without the thermostat burnt my hands in a couple of places the first time I used them. I didn't like the look of the winter Gerbing glove as the protection doesn't look that great so settled on the liners with a decent pair of winter gloves. These work great, but the liners only warm the tops of the fingers and the back of the hand (in my mind where you need it most due to the wind chill).

I've also had 2 pairs of EXO2 Stormshield gloves, the glove design was far better than Gerbing, but on both pairs I had they repeatedly kept failing to work and needed returning - shame as I wanted to buy British and the fit was much better than the Gerbing full glove.

Tried silk gloves and various different types of liner/winter glove but the pain when the circulation starts again made me go to heated in the end.

I just use the alpinestars jet rd gortex in the shitty weather and not found i need any heated gear. mibbies when am an auld fart i may change ma tune:p

tried my new silk undergloves today and despite the freezing temp, my hands whilst not being toasty were reasonable warm with feeling in all fingers, so for less than £7, I'd say a bargain :)

Its amazing how things move on, when I was young I had a wax cotton belstaff and a pair of cheap gloves, i rode every day for 15 years like that and never complained, now I'm, whining about cold digits etc etc what a soft arse ive become ;) but im still riding and that cant be bad , been out today again with silk undergloves and finger tips cold but not fozen ( it was minus ), but ive decided to fit heated grips on my s***d t****e as its my every day ride.

i had a pair of heated gloves i used once when i went fishing. wooly ones i accidently covered them in lighter fluid and set them alight. unfortunatley they were on my hands at the time...... but good thing was i was next to a river so it wasnt too hard to put them out.

Dont think they'd be practical on the bike!!!

One thing I would like to know, do you guys with heated grips, put em on and forget about em, or is it a case of change back as soon as warmer weather comes

Well Ive taken advantage of Hein Gericke offers today, new pair of HG Penguin mitts 30% off and HG heated grips 15% off, £82 the both, went from home to almost Skipton today before fingers went numb, ( showing zero on temp ) but then I'm sure it must have been about -5 with wind chill, just now fitted heated grips on my Speedy, so hopefully toasty from now on.

as for muffs ! getting the whole hand in .............;)
