Benzina Magazine Issue 5

Got issue 5 this week and it is, as usual, brilliant. Excellent article on Ducati 750GT, a real memory jerker.:D

Good article on Pat Slinn who was a mechanic with Mike Hailwood. Intersting that even then the Jap manufacturers were complaining about Ducatis.

Photographs throughout are amazing. Even one of Steve Wynne with a beard and a very full head of hair. I did wonder if the standard would remain as high as the first 4 but I'm delighted to say it's as good as ever.

Well worth a look www.teambenzina.co.uk

Mine arrived yesterday but spent whole night in the garage working on the bike so haven't opened it yet but I will.

Classic Bike this month has feature on Mike H and comments from Pat Slinn. Last month they did a feature on the 750GT against a Norton and a Suzuki kettle.
Classic motorcycle mechanics are doing a series on servicing and re-commissioning a 90's SS as well.

Like you I am pleased the standard has been maintained.

I love Benzina. I know next to nothing about classic bikes, never mind Italian ones, other than that I love the looks & sound & smell etc, but the way the articles are written is inspiring me to learn more about them. Of course the next step will be to buy a couple of teachests full of rust purporting to be a bona fide exotic Italian classic, spend an inordinate amount of money to get it 50% re-assembled, then lose all hope for a few years, go back to it to find that in the intervening period it has reverted to it's component elements, feel guilty & be compelled to re-open my wallet, thus restarting the whole hopeless cycle over again.... Divorce or/and madness is sure to follow...

I met Greg (Mr Benzina) at Silverstone the other day, and what a thoroughly nice chap he is!

Got mine today - before even opening, it strikes me as the best constructed magazine I've ever held!

Fantastic photo's and extremely high quality production. It's worth every penny

Got mine yesterday as well, another wonderful issue and I'm glad Greg has managed to keep it going and the quality up. I am working in London a bit more at the moment and spend a lot of time with media/publishing types and took a few copies down for some friends to look at. They produce 2 of the nicest cycling mags and were stunned at how good Benzina was, even more so when it has no advertising as such, they couldn't work out how he was doing it, quality, images, feel of the mag and with no real signs of where the money was coming from to produce it. I'm not sure if he can but I'll do my bit to keep it going anyway :D

I can see another convert on the horizon! :lol2:
Madness almost certainly but divorce unlikely because once you get one you will permanently be at home stuck in the garage or on fleabay looking for bits so your other half knows exactly where you are.
Classic bikes are a good way of spending your whole time with your pride and joy but not actually going anywhere.
But when they run sweetly nothing modern compares.:)
