After a couple of false starts, I spent Sunday with Fife Police doing the Bike Safe course. There was only myself and one other there, and we had 1 Police rider for our instructor.
Morning was spent in the classroom watching the Bike Safe DVD, highlighting hazard perception, road position, observation, common accident types and possible avoidances.
Afternoon was spent on the road, taking turns at the lead being assessed. During the stops, the Police rider gave feedback, not always positive!
As it turned out, the other fella on the course was a complete novice. This meant our road speed was WELL down, though that did give us a lot more time to carry out the manouvering and observations, it wasn't relative to the speeds most of us normally ride our bikes. So, still plenty scope to work on then
All in all, I had a pretty good day out - it's certainly a taster for more advanced rider training - and, I gained a bit of respect for the Coppers too :thumbs:
