Came off, Strines Road :(

Wasn't sure where to post this!

Anyway first 'proper' off this weekend, the blinkin Strines Road (followed the lead bloke on a group ride, didn't even know I was on it)!

Fair bit of damage (cosmetic fortunately) putting the bike through the insurers. We've insisted it goes in to Ducati Leeds. Bit annoying they can't collect the bike 'til next Monday though (the insurers 'own' could've collected it today). That's a whole week before they can start looking at producing a quote for the assessor. We got it home ourselves (wish we'd just recovered it to the dealership but it was Sunday)!

Anyone know of 'reasonable' cost 'recovery/transport'. The bikes in the garage, just need to get it to Ducati Leeds to speed things up and get it back on the road asap.

Helpful advice appreciated :) xx

unlucky, Strines road is horrible, rode it on my ZX7R and could barely hold on, then nearly went off the back of it going thru the little dip with the hairpin climb out! Never ridden it since, always carry on to Sheffield.

Hope you got away unscathed...

You can hire a van for not much money, Ive used NL Commercials in Batley in the past, just make sure you get tie down straps and a van prefferably with anchor points.

Yup, that sounds like the one, I was coming down the other way though, heading from the A616 I think, very steep, downhill. Knew I was going far too fast for it as I came hurtling round the prior bend, saw the gravel, saw the stream running across it, saw the camber......dah di dah :D

Have a slightly sore hip at the mo (the kind of you almost don't walk for a little while type hip) :)

Van hire isn't really an option (I won't be driving for a week or so) and Chris is in Hampshire.

Do appreciate the post though, thank you (prolly just have to be patient and wait for Monday) :)

Sorry to hear, at least you are OK, sounds like these guys have the lift in hand - good luck and hope you are back on the road before the proper weather kicks in. Get yourself checked out though if you haven't already !

You're an angel, just logged back on, incredible, thank you for that, very genuinely :) xx

Got a fantastic pm from Rockjock (Pete) too. What a very, very decent bloke.

Can't believe we got such a genuinely decent response on here, put things in perspective a bit (was feeling a bit down about it all today). Daft really, hopefully be back on the road soon, thanks everyone :) xx

I have a van fully equipped for carrying bikes, but I would have to charge you the miles I'm afraid cos it's thirsty and I am broke. Bummer on crashing...GWS!

bad news about the off - but at least you are more or less ok and sorted with getting the bike to DL too by the sound of it :)

Beth, Oh no!!
Glad to hear you are OK tho. Let me know if you need any help with anything.

Rich

You're brill, just got your tx, thank you.

Spoke to Ducati Leeds this morning, even if we got the bike in earlier they've booked it in for Monday and wouldn't get round to looking at it sooner :ohwell:

Must admit looking at the sunshine this morning I am absolutely gritting my teeth :D

Totally my own fault the whole escapade!

Very genuinely do appreciate how very decent everyone's been on here though, cheered me up no end. Will know better for next time (or rather I'll try and avoid a next time)!

Thanks everyone, hopefully start meeting a few more off here soon :) xx

Sorry to hear about your off but glad you're in one piece. The bike will mend.

Great support from locals on the forum. Hope you get sorted out soon.:D

where is Strines Road then?

I've since learned it's actually called Mortimer Road (Langsett I think), links the A616 with the A57 (know it's been used on 'Bends' courses before but they've taken it off the routes 'cos the surface has deteriorated badly over the last few years - I didn't know that at the time) :)

Did see quite a few cyclists coming down whilst we were 'hanging around', one of my girlfriends commented on the rear views, quite enjoyed that bit Pete :D

Like your avatar now btw, tons better :) xx

Not when your fat arse is in it mate!

As proven at the Masher last year.. RJ hasn't got a fat arse... and don't worry the pic has nothing to do with his turning out in the morning in his underpants (something I was thankfully spared )
