can any computer wise people help??

some of you lot sound as if you are rather computer wise, whereas me i just dont have a bleeding clue! i know this is absolutely unrelated to anything on this site but if someone could help me out i'd be SOOOO grateful!

I recieved files sent as 14V file type that had the same type of information on them as sent previously as a word document - and therefore i could open it and read it. now with these 14v thingys i cant open it in any shape or form that is not all gobbledeygook and i need to get at this file asap!!

what do i do??

well the best google comes up with is that they are view files , Try opening one with something like photoshop or try Here for a free picture file viewer.
