Chain adjustment on Multistrada

Anybody know how this is done ? I'm giving my bike a winter once over and have never had a single-sided swinger. Thanks for any help.

there are two bolts that lock the rear axel, slacken them off and then use a G-spanner for the adjustment, this is done just behind the chain sprocket, tighten back up again and roberts your mums brother......it is easier if you take of the rear wheel but check tension after refitting tyre.

As Paul says. However you will not have a G spanner in your Multi tool kit. If my memory serves me correctly the Multi tool kit consists of a screwdriver!(the S models kit also included a crucifix that you could hold onto while you prayed your ohlins fork seals wouldnt start leaking before you got the brand new bike home from the dealers)

Instead of the G spanner you need to grip the black plastic sprocket guard and pull it either clockwise or ccw to tighten/slacken your chain. After undoing the 2 axle pinch bolts. They are retightened to 30 to 32 NM I think. Tighten the one nearest the sprocket first and then the other.

Also you may have to loosen the nut from your chainguard/hugger that attaches to the black plastic sprocket guard. If you dont it can be hard to turn it enough to get your chain tensioned.

Winston you are only round the corner from me, pop round anytime (kettles always on) and we will sort it in no time.
