You may already be aware of changes, but it might just save somebody a wasted journey...went to MOT my Speed Triple this morning, rules have changed...If you have a seat which will carry a pillion, you must have footrests fitted on bike, as I have not I had to dash home to fit my seat cowl ( this will suffice as single seat ) also had to fit a Red reflector on the rear of the bike, this is also law. ( both of which now been removed ) :)

Neither of these are new changes. Pillion thing at least 4 / 5 years, red reflector (although the red part of a nice 'tricolore' one seems to pass ;)) has been forever.

Speed Triple - Nice

They said it like it was recent, its 3rd time Ive had the Triumph MOT'd at the same place and they have never mentioned it before...strange

Ducati due next month so will ensure the poxy relector is on :D

There has always been a requirement to have rear reflector. You only need to have a red reflector if there is not one incorporated in the tail light. Many, but not all, tail light lenses have a built in reflector. If not there should have been a separate reflector when new.

my bike passed its mot without them last month (footrests)

the red reflector is a requirement by law if you get stopped by the law you might find yourself in trouble, :watchout:

it's always been the same.......

remember as well that the reflector has to be on the center line of the bike. cant be to either side. It may be that your MOT tester has been letting these items slip by and been pulled about it, so he know has to act on it. or it is an easy way of telli9ng someone why their pointing it out now rather than last year.
the Mot has a monthly magazine and other handouts which also remind testers of things that vosa may feel have been getting missed.
did you know there are more pages in the MOT testers manual for numberplates than there are for brakes!!!!!!! makes you think
