Climate Change (Global Warming) 🥶🌍🌞

@NZDave , @Laava , @Chizel - Founding Father What say you given New Zealand only emits 0.015-0.017% of global emissions?

I believe that New Zealands Global emissions are actually lower now than they were 10 years ago?

Who cares? Adapt and flourish!

I say its poppycock. Unless there is some sorta invisible dome over nz and our weather is not influenced by the rest of the planet.
That and the whole man made climate change thing is nothing more than another money/ power grab.
I think anything done to reduce overall pollution can only be a good thing but increasing taxes and switching to so called green energy is far from achieving that. Quiet the opposite in most cases.
I also think we should build a fucken huge and i mean huge!!!!! blender and put all greens , lefties, Muslims and politicians in it, turn the fuckers into mince and pour it over Australia....

Maybe you levels are based on the meat you also provide the rest of the world with ?? If a car is built in Germany its the end user that's responsible for the carbon footprint but you raise a cow in Ireland and some German Guinness eats it we still get tagged for the carbon footprint... made up shit innit 🤪

Good point. We export 90% of our beef. If 10% is enough to keep 5 million happy we are feeding a quite few others. And for cheaper than we pay no doubt..
Hmmm... i guess if the green powers get their way, they could criple our economy . But who would gain from that? Our national debt would skyrocket and our credit rating would plumet... who would want that? Im thinking too much aint i? I should be sleeping.

Answer: the usual suspects

“Lower welfare!”

Where are these lower welfare farms?
UK has very high standards of welfare.
We are highly regulated and inspected by the state and indépendant assessors (Red Tractor etc). Unlike a lot of imported food.

All of which is unnecessary as poorly managed animals are unprofitable; the margins are so tight that it is a self regulating system i,e. Run down farms fail quickly and are all but a thing of the distant past

The numbers they’re bandying about works to 500 ‘animals’ per person (based on 70 m population) over the 24 years…and that’s if the 3% reduction was from now. Over 20 animals per person per year.
So they’re obviously including chickens and farmed salmon…in fact it mentions salmon at the end of the article.
1 head of cattle feeds a man for a year with no need for anything else.

How many animals are killed every year because of crop production? They ignore that. And being ripped apart or maimed by harvesters etc isn’t very welfare friendly.

For the RSPCA to push this research is, if you pardon the pun, hogwash.

As a starting point, (1) “THE RSPCA is challenging people in the U.K. to make simple, savvy food choices to reduce their animal product consumption by three per cent each year – in a move which could spare ONE BILLION land animals from lower welfare farming.” Nonsense. You would have to ask most of the U.K. to reduce by 3% to get to the one billion spared land animals and even then, what would you do with those extra billion animals? In the real world the food producers would simply not farm that billion animals so reducing by 3% would not have saved a single animal.

(2) “Save up to three billion wild-caught fish used for animal feed” Is a fishy tale. In the North sea the largest catchers of British fish is the eu so you are unlikely to save a billion fish by the U.K. stopping 3%

(3) “Free up millions of hectares of land for nature and wildlife”. What about our own food security? We are constantly being told that we need to produce our own food in this difficult internationally volatile world. What we do with the land? I think most know councils would redefine it as grey/brown belt only for developers to trash the countryside by building houses but not homes on it.

So lastly (4) “Significantly lower agricultural greenhouse gas emissions” We in the U.K. produce just 1% of the global greenhouse gases, just 1%. Of that 1% just 0.0013% is from agriculture. The RSPCA buildings and transport fleet produce more greenhouse gases than livestock in food production and they know this.

Yes. Ecomentalists don't understand that the problem the Earth faces is not human beings producing to much easy energy from fossil fuels, but that easy energy fuelling the proliferation of too many human beings.

Perhaps we are not burning enough fossil fuels ? I`ll be out buying coal this weekend so along with my stack of logs I`ll be doing my bit for the environment this winter.
I hope you cut up your logs with a good clean petrol chainsaw and not one of the awful battery things full of lithium, nickel and manganese that do so much damage to the environment...

I do it all manually with an axe, a log splitter, a wedge spike and a sledgehammer. Good fun and good for my health too. Is there anything more satisfying than splitting logs with an axe ? Probably but this is a family forum so I`ll keep those thoughts to myself

if you think about all the "tree planting" charities planting new tree's ( Over 2 billion in 2025 Over 2 Billion Trees Planted in 2025: A Major Step Toward Global Reforestation - Green Planet Union ) Then it stands out that we need higher co2 levels if we are to keep the tree's alive

I just normally flush my logs but you country people do some weird stuff with shit

I most enjoy felling the trees and logging them up. Ideally I'd have children to do the rest but unfortunately it wasn't to be.
As I don't have any of these free labourers to hand I borrow a friend's tractor-mounted cone splitter. Very fast and efficient and mostly safe if you keep your hands on the right side of the cone....
