Yeah, I knew it was coming - but when I saw your message I thought it meant that they had used someone elses instead

It has arrived (Saturday)... and 400 miles later here's my report (sit down and grab a coffee). First of all, the roll of honours. A sincere thanks to all the team at Ducati Glasgow for getting this ready to catch the summer - I have been a pain in the @rse hounding Martin and Kerrie almost constantly for the last few weeks. Martin told me that he was NOT working late applying the decals on Friday, he wanted away early, he'd start them, but finish on Saturday - at 9.15pm I asked him what was an EARLY finish, as he put the last Alice decal on... thanks for that Martin
So, bike ready on Saturday morning, and so began the dream... I didn't know what to expect, with a 1098R I was now actually worried, how could this bike possibly be better ????? Saturday was a glorious day, so the mood was just PERFECT for collecting the bike... couldn't sleep, out at 6am with the dog (sad or what ??). I felt nervous on Saturday, uncomfortable even, but as the day went on it became clear this was SPECIAL, but in a way I couldn't describe. After a variety of different roads on Saturday (Aberfoyle, Dukes Pass etc) the RR was cleaned and put to his bed.... but just for an early start on Sunday... becuase then "Dawn of the Desmo" took a whole new meaning. Scott took me up the Sma' Glen, and as the day warmed up so did my confidence, at last, I could truly appreciate just what this was all about.... it responds quicker, it turns quicker, and it just wants to play - at 6000 it's a caged animal, with 400 miles already I let it "breathe", took it up to 7000 / 7500 and remember thinking, "you and me pal are going to get into a lot of trouble aren't we :D "

So, people ask, is it worth it - is it worth paying such an amount for a bike ???? I can honestly say, it's worth EVERY PENNY.

So, in summary, it is the BEST bike, made by the BEST manufacturer, supplied by the BEST dealership in the UK, let loose onto the BEST roads in the country, but in the hands of a moron... 4 out of 5 ain't bad :D

Scott took me up the Sma' Glen

I never even felt a thing!!!

It's great to read the happy ramblings of a Ducati madman, though, and I hope to read more like this as the remaining D16RR orders are completed.

Happy new bike Stuart!

nice one mister.

i started to cry the first time i heard the desmo so i can only imagine what it must be like to ride it!!

I hope you have many more happy miles together :)

...yes Stuart, happy new bike mate, happy for you!!! :)

...pictures?? :)

pictures, indeed - I'll do them tonight... I've been a really sad git here, I asked Martin to keep the box/packaging the bike was shipped in... it has Ducati Desmosedici RR in red, then the Desmosedici logo in black... looks cool.....

oooo, they're big pictures!!!! :p

I must be doing something wrong, I had Porsches, lots of Ducatis etc. and now I'm poor and only have a truck and 1 Ducati.

...oh yer, I gave it all up to live in what I class as paradise, in a beautiful house that cost alot of bish!!!! :o :p :p

OK here's a statistic for you, I had an Aston Martin Vanquish S, 18 months old from NEW... the money I LOST on that would have bought the D16RR, 1098R and Hypermotard 1100s and insured them for THREE YEARS  Fergie can confirm it. In fact we worked out that the car was an inverted write off. It actually depreciated more DRIVING to the petrol station than it did to FILL the car... taking into account depreciation, running costs, insurance etc. An absolute fact. I documented this in GREAT DETAIL and sent it to Top Gear - I was "gagged" by the dealership and Aston Martin. It worked out something crazy like £15 a mile. In fact I was flying helicopters at this point, going to our house in Lossiemouth it was cheaper to fly the Jetranger than take the Aston (that's another story involving low flying and power lines on the A9) . However, I have now found the wonder that is public forums... where's that file gone ??? The @rse Tin Martin was a great car, shame it devalued more than a third world currency. Moral of this story Project Imola, you can't beat bricks and mortar for the investment ;)

quick question...

will you marry me... :D

yes I am that shallow!!

ps - only joking, I have the love of my life right here, but goddam you are one heck of a catch :D

Appreciate or Depreciate ?

The discussions currently in hot debate, will the D16RR depreciate, will values fall like a stone ? Maybe the financial value will drop, just MAYBE, but the dream will only become MORE VALUABLE. For others sitting on the fence wondering, Should I ?? Can I justify it ?? - the answer is YES. I can honeslty say, this is the best machine I have EVER owned, words can't and won't describe it... it's simply awesome :D :D

Claire, I'm very disapointed in you - have you seen how ugly this man is??? You gold digger you!!!! ;) :p

I vowed I'd never buy a brand new vehicle again, we saved £10k on Roses AMG Mercedes. It was 6 months old with less than 3k miles on it, and was bought by some barrister bloke while he waited for his SL500 thingy to be delivered!!! sod that, we laughed all the way to the bank!!!

...helicopter indeed, bicycle mate, it's much cheaper!!! :D

...well, are you gonna be at mine on Friday or Saturday week? Desmo or no?

Nice to hear that you're obviously enjoying the RR.

And it's good to hear about a fellow pilot too (Though I'm sh!t scared of those rotary wing things....)

Seriously - I'm jealous - very!!
