Decal Apllication Tips Please!

I've got some Ducati Performance decals, the ones where lettering is individual, you peel from the backing and they should stick to the top transparent layer then you whack em on.
Despite following the website advice, I couldn't get the buggers to peel from the backing without either pulling the backing away rendering them useless or not coming off the backing at all. With the lettering being so thin and quite delicate too.
In the bin they went and new ones have now arrived.
Any hints or tips would be greatly appreciated.

float them on with liquid soap/water mixed and sprayed onto the plastic surface, get the surface wet and decal will slide easily you can then position accurately and then allow to dry or use hair dryer and then remove backing. If you've got any curved surfaces or dimples you can warm them up and carefully push them into place. take your time and use a squeegy to carefully remove any air bubbles when wet, work from centre of vinyl outwards and keep checking all the bubbles are gone.

molenz - pm has been sent!! thank you.
gizmo - the problem i have is not applying but removing them from the backing paper. once they're off you can postion as you said and then apply. thank you anyway.

In that case the application tape isnt doing its job, make sure you rub the decal into the application tape well before trying to remove the heavier backing paper. Application tape has a shelf life and loses its tackiness, depending upon where you bought them from it could also be cheap quality. If the backing paper has 3M printed through it you know its good vinyl. If the backing paper tears away its because they've used too much cutter blade pressure and gone into the backing making it easier for the top layer to come off. avoid ebay crap and buy from a reputable decal company, the way those cheap decal makers get price down is to use cheap sh1te quality vinyl and tape.
