I've been getting a French mag called Cafe Racer and the latest issue has a feature on which bikes a number of designers consider to be the best.
In an interesting "confessional" Massimo Tamburini's choice is the Honda NR750, maybe an admission of where many of the styling ideas for the 916 actually came from
Its always been known that they did look at the NR but this does seem to be a bit of a confession although my french translation ain't brilliant, embarrassing as me mum taught French and spends half her life there Tamburini comments on the technical/mechanical ideas and the "emotion" of the design and its uniqur function, and this is possibly what PT followed with the 999 design.
Galluzi's choice was a Vincent Black Shadow.
out of all the bikes mentioned only 1 was chosen by more than 1 designer or journalist, the Ducati 750 SS
