Does Casey Stoner want to retire?

:violin: that's one way of getting folk to notice him :)

To be fair, it's the Honda manager who is talking about it, not him.

Different people have different priorities and goals - if you're 26, you've won 2 world championships have a young family and enough money to see you alright for the rest of your life, getting motivated to risk your life going around in circles thousands of miles from home must be hard. :)

To be honest I don't think any of them with young families should be risking their life, as what happened to Marco :( clearly outlines this. Racing at such close quarters as they do now there is no room for mistakes or accidents. Nobody has time to avoid the fallen rider.

when you remember that casey's family sold up everything in australia and lived many years in caravans driving round the uk etc for races he has been doing this for maybe 13 years. dont know if i could keep doing something that long without some sort of a solid base to settle in for at least a few months a year. Apparantly when asked directly he said that racing wasnt for ever , but that honda had already put a contract on the table for 13/14.

If he is not enjoying the racing then it is the correct decision to go. An easier decision to make than if he was enjoying being there.
Wonder if announcing now will make a difference to how he races between now and the end of the season?
I don't believe money is the main motivating factor for any of these guys.

If you loose your competitive edge then it is time to go.
He's set the target of this years championship & then its off to chill with the family.
Fair play to him.
I'm competitive as hell & at 53 I still have targets to meet in my other life.
Looking forward to the Home Countries & World Championships in June. You just need to adjust & move with the times. Still play against the same English & Ozzie sides, ITS JUST we are a wee bit older :)

All the Best ya buck toothed Ozzie Biker. You can fairly ring the neck out of a motorcycle. :):):)

Pity, cos he is a real talent..
but you have to respect him for it..
maybe a 2 year break re-charge himself and come back, he'd only be 28 ish

It'll be interesting to see how the dynamic of the grid will change in his absence. Love him or loath him but you can't deny he has been one of the major players in recent years.

Looks like he will have extra motivation to win the championship again this year.

It's going to be silly season now to see who replaces him , especially as rossi has said today he wants another 2 years in motogp

Neil spalding just posted on twitter that Nakamoto head of Hrc has said he will possibly be on the phone to Lorenzo or rossi !!

Stoner retires, Lorenzo moves to Honda and Rossi back to Yamaha, just a thought. If this happens who will ride the Ducati next year?

I'll miss him who am I gonna moan about now:confused: Mmmmm could be Dovi after all his bitching about Crutchlow

Fair point, who are us Rossi fans gonna hate now???

Nah on a serious note he will be missed and it is sad that he is retiring so young but good for him anyway.

Do you think Stoner and now Spies have had a belly full of paddock politics and Factory interference....?
