Dropped 848in garage this evening  Snapped the expensive looking screen mount, now loose, hope ducktape will sort it? not much choice now before the Masher. Bugger:doh:

Thought mirror vibration was bad before, very interesting now. Will get some Ducktape tomoz and give it ago. Make it look like a track bike.

I'am so @@@@@@ off.

When I saw the headline I thought 'Oh no not another' so I was somewhat relieved to read it was just a 'in the garage incident' Do you think you could Araldite the offending piece? worked for me for a while..........

Oh Dunc, my heart goes out to you............what a bummer, but I'm sure you'll be able to get it fixed - no idea what you mean by scree mount though???

Not gonna ask how you managed to do that one, but lesson learned, get a carpet for your garage for your bike, I let the Imola go once and luckily, because the faring was off, the pipe on the falling side was off and I got a thick sh@g pile carpet in there no damage was done. :p

Sorry to hear about this. see you on Saturday all the same tho, who needs mirrors anyway!!! :)

I found some Bondmaster fast cure epoxy super rapide adhesive 2 prt. Thought not a chance to bond the aluminium, but it sure has rock solid.
The actual part that snapped was the aluminium gold finished front fairing/screen support member. The section snapped just below the RH mirror.

Sounds good. I use Plexus for this kind of thing, as strong as an ox!!! :)

Trouble is epoxy is brittle not elastic and the vibes will kill it. You could epoxy a splint on top of the repair - I've used welding rod before now - so that when the epoxy breaks (at the joint) the splint will stay in place.

I have some fibreglass material, woven like a sexy negligee. Much better than matting bought from a car shop. I can bring some tomorow, together with epoxy, I have gallons of that stuff you could wrap it with epoxy and job would be sorted in ten minutes. Let me know and I'll bring it to Pete's shop where I believe we are meeting.

Please please please. Sounds like a great idea thanks.

Ducati Leeds have the part in checked this morning, will get bike booked in when i get back. Too shorter notice before the masher to get it fitted before.:D

It looks complicated, front faring off, headlight out it looks a mother of a job. Ducati Leeds say it will only take 1hr tho.

MY UPDATE - we need to leave at 0900 to have a good chance of making all the connections. I was just going to post this. There is no way we'll have any spare time to sort that out here. UNLESS you want to get to my house around 0800?

Sorry to read that, but as steve748 said, relieved it was not on the road.

If this is a bit you will replace later you could splint it with 2 pack epoxy 'metal' putty squeezed round it with a bit of ally or steel strip in the lump to stop it flexing and 'peeling' off the metal. (You can buy this stuff in plumbers merchants or trade stores - looks like a stick of rock you knead together to activate. Hope this helps

I'll bring it anyway...let me know if you are going to get there earlier or we can do it at Glencoe or at one of the stops. Is it possible to wrap a small bandage around the break as I'm not sure where the break is. Then we can smear it with epoxy. If it's what I think it will take minutes.
