Dubble Bubble screen on 749 999

Any one changed to taller screen or reverted back to standard screen having covered plenty of miles and can comment on differences experienced?

I got a Skidmarx dubble bubble on mine, I fitted it the day I picked up the bike and have done about 10k since then, 2 or 3 1,000 mile rides in a weekend and loads of long / short blast as well. Just fitted the standard screen back on because the Skidmarx screen doesn't have the hole for a side light and its going for MOT on Saturday morning. The shape of the screen suitss the bike so much more I'm thinking of getting a direct replacement in black without the side light hole.

Any thoughts? I do hope to do similar milage / rides this year......

It may look better but if doing any kind of distance / speed then the bigger screen is ALOT better, go back at your peril !

Well, it passed MOT this AM, went for a wee trundle, couldn't believe how much wind protection you don't get with the standard screen

Plus I remember now why I didn't like the original screen, I cant see the warning lights above the rev counter, gawd knows when me fuel light came on :comp2: Oh and my attention kept on being drawn o the cyclops light on the screen so I pulled it off! Reckon the skidmarx screen will be going back on.....:ohwell:

That cyclops sidelight was only there because they forgot to put the sidelight on around the headlight where it's been put for years:rolleyes:

LOL, I think you'll find thats a myth, in the book 'Ducati 999' there are variuos concept pictures of the 999 and the side light is on / in / behind the screen in them, IIRC Pierre's design had the light behind the screen almost backlighting the lower screen, when the bike rolled off production the light was infront of the screen and he wasn't too happy, will have to reread that bit to check.

Ha! finally disproved! It was a crap idea and looks like an afterthought. Much better would have been a circle of light around the the headlight like on the BMW cars. IOMOAISTI:)

If I had a 749/999 I would make one or both fit, I think two together one above the other would look well:cool:

Even using buy it now they are under £16.00.

Pity I bought a double bubble with the light cut out!

The postage is a rip-off:eek: How come some are £9.99 and some £11.99? They are so light I doubt the postage would cost more than a couple of £'s:rolleyes:

I did think about getting another headlight off ebay and drilling a hole to mount the side light inside the light as normal....
