Ducati 900ssie Electrics

Can anyone answer the following two questions about a 1999 Ducati 900ssie?

What should the voltage output from the generator be?
What are the test values of the regulator/rectifier?

Was going over the mountain mile on the Isle of Man TT course and heard two loud bangs coming from under the bike (where the regulator/rectifier lives) and now my battery will not charge from the bike. Need to get this info so we can check the system with a multi-meter.

Ta. :banghead:

Measured across any 2 of the 3 yellow wires from the alternator you should get about 15Vac /1000 rpm, so about 30Vac at 2,000rpm.
Between any 2 yellow wires, a meter set to read Ohms should see a very low resistance, probably only an ohm or 2.
All of the yellow wires should read infinity to ground.
If these conditions are met then the alternator is most probably OK.

At around 2,000 rpm a meter across the battery terminals should read about 14Vdc. At any revs it should not drop below 13.5V nor exceed 15V.
If it doesn't reach 13.5V, increasing slightly with revs then the regulator is faulty.
