I've got the chance of buying a 1999 916. Don't know anything about them other than they look superb. I have a Multi but think this bike may complement it and keep it company. Any thoughts, recommendations good points, bad points etc would be appreciated. If I buy it will not be until I return from WDW to which I go one week on Monday. I'm off to the pub now I've had my chippy tea (Lancashire Hot Pots for all you music buffs) so I'll read't replies tomorrow. Price is 3,250 pounds, low mileage and it has just been serviced at Ital Sport. Bloke says it's not quick enough for him but I'm sure it would be for me. It's Termi'd and chipped. He's into Suzuki's now (GSx's).

Well if it's just been serviced you should be safe anyway, just check the usual stuff belts, rockers, regulator which should of come under the service anyway.

Make sure the history is correct and just give the bike a general once over, 1999 was the switch over from the 916 to the 996 so it's the last of the 916's there, I dunno if this would mean it will get any extras or not though?

But pipes and chip and recent service make this sound OK to me

As Jon say's it's had a major service so all should be in order.A 1999 bike will be fitted with the later regulater. As for rockers they would be appear to be a wee bit hit and miss.My bike has now covered 23000 miles on original rockers. You here others have worn out at 3000 miles.

I would go for it at that price.Personally I don't think you will have any regrets.:) :)
