Ducati - rossi dream team

Personally I think stoner is ok as is Rossi and deserve the highest respect from all of us regardless which team they ride for as we can only dream about riding a bike the way they do . After all they are the ones putting their lives at risk for our entertainment.
Just curious though how many of us supported stoner before he turned to the dark side ? Be honest now !!!!

Only ever supported 3 riders that are still racing=
Rossi
Capirossi
Edwards

I have the utmost respect for Casey as a rider and for what he has done for Ducati.
As a sports personality i just find it very difficult to warm to him. But I don't hate him.
Its as simple as that, to me.
IMHO

Aye you're right, that orange/white /red/black colour scheme is much more tasteful!

And what's that wi' his teeth?

Oh, he's SMILING

IMHO: Rossi = best Bike Racer, Stoner = (Currently) best Rider

My god are we winning this thread, the rossi mob have gone very quiet!!!!!!

:D
They'll be away gathering their handbags and sharpening their nail files :handbag: ......or maybe they realise it is a farce after reading about how today the 5th version, this season,of the chassis/frame/bike is being tested.
I just wonder if a wee bit more time(maybe a bit more than the 80 secs quoted by a smart ass Burgess last year) should have been taken with the GP11 :p

I feel sorry for #69 getting the queens sloppy seconds aw the time :puke:

Not very nice i am guessin. at least he has 9 trophys to polish and the satisfaction of knowing he will go down as one of the all time greats like ago and hailwood:D notice what they all have in common? Multiple championchips in different classes, i suppose there are some of the newer riders who have a chance of joining them, but one certainlly wont:cool:

There was a very interesting discussion on Eurosport during qualifying from Philip Island on Saturday.

Neil Spalding (other technical journalists and TV commentators are available) was explaining the technical issues that Ducati is currently facing with their existing setup.

Basically, because a bike's suspension doesn't function when the bike is leaned over, a certain amount of flex is needed in the frame to iron out the bumps and surface imperfections in the corner.

The problem that Ducati has is that the front monocoque section, that connects the engine and the headstock, is comparatively short and because of this, regardless of the material from which it is constructed, it has a high torsional strength which limits the amount of flex available without compromising the durability of the section.

The beam frame, as used by the Japanese factories, is much longer as it runs from the back of the engine up to the headstock. Consequently this allows a greater degree of controlled flex and gives the front end more "feel" and feedback.

Because of this, it seems very likely that Ducati will be running an aluminium beam frame in 2012, not because the challenges of the task were too great but rather that the vision of monocoque construction was not possible using existing technology.

If this is the case, then it means two things.

- The 1199 Panigale should not be competitive in WSB (where it will be up against almost 100% alu beam framed competition)

- Ducati may struggle to sell the 1199.

I guess time will tell...

from what i could gather from the interview in mcn with a duke bigwig the 1199 is having none of the gp bikes problems and its all down to tyres, those gp tyres are only running at about 8-9psi because they are almost like bloody puncture proofs, put normal tyres on and the problem is gone

There is a good (but long) article here that concludes pretty much the same thing:

http://motomatters.com/analysis/2011/08/08/the_trouble_with_the_ducati_desmosedici_.html

But they will have a bit of a job communicating that, bit of an own goal to be abandoning one technology on your GP bike when you are about to start selling it on your premier road bike, also didn't Rossi lose the front again today, but on the alu framed bike this time?

I think what that bike needs is a rider with cojones, enough of this frame thing and bull sh@t that, lets change the whole bike,in fact, get me a yamaha and stick Ducati fairings on it,people won't notice, that way i'll be able to do some decent times:jerkoff:
