well i was just wondering, where is "Up North"

The reason i ask is this!
If you live in Dover, then anyone who lives north of Dover is from up "North"
If you live in London, then someone living in Watford is from up "North"
Stoke on trent is "North" of Birmingham !
and manchester is north of Stoke, penrith,is north of Manchester!
and glasgow is North of penrith and so on!
Now Newcastle is "North" East of Birmingham, and blackpool is "North" west of Birmingham, and to make things more confusing Oban is North of everywhere other than the Awkney isles:D so my point is dont get upset if someone joins the club from down south as anyone of you Northeners have a more Northern member more "north of you!!!
and to top it all i'm in the "Midlands" so i have 50% south of me and 50% north of me:confused:  ;) :)

No-one is going to get upset Mav, there are forum members from as far across as Vancouver and the North West USA !

:D

ARE but where are they "North" of??????
They have got to be "North" of someone IE China etc etc or they cant be members of (Ducati) up north!
so if they are not "North of someone then they must join (Ducati down south) simple Init

I would say that they are North of us, as long as you are North of the South Pole you are more Northern than someone that isn't, however what happens when you go North of the North Pole ???? Do you become Southern again ???

Unless you happen to live on the north pole, but then you'd hardly need a Ducati would you :D :D

An explanation - when we had the idea this site was meant just to be a website, no forum just a place to collate info from the various clubs so "northern UK" Ducati owners could find it easily. Various names were thrown about, och aye Ducati weyaye man Ducati but upnorth sort of summed it up.

That site would have been used by riders from down south as well as it had routes, roads suggestions etc and loads of people come north riding so might be interested in that, it would also be the site where RTL info went out so one would expect people who didn't live in the "north" to read it.

Once I produced the mockup I got a lot of requests for a forum which has now been tagged onto the site.

I produced that first mockup on 10th December!! to take it from that to fully working in just over 3 weeks and to get where it is now has meant parts of the original concept have been diluted other bits have expanded and I'm still trying to work out exactly WTF we've got here :)

I don't see that its important that anyone lives in the "north" to use the site, you may be looking for roads, a companion for a tour or help in finding hotels/campsites and surely local knowledge is the best way of doing that? so it should be open to all. I'm certain that there will be ex pat northerners all over the world who might want to chat on a "local" forum about places and roads they know and they should be welcome to join us.

Once we get more established we'll see who uses it and what everyone wants from it, i've always said we should be willing to make changes hence the feedback forum. It'll only work if it does get used and when you think about how small a niche its appealing to if you keep it to just Ducati owners who live north of Yorkshire and Cheshire its not going to end up like visordown is it?.
