Ebay spot

I thought I'd drag up this old thread - those of you who were paying attention back in December may recall that I've been working on this wee bevel project. (Derek and Stewart have been particularly helpful and full of useful advice along the way ).

She's still a bit of a ratbike to be honest, and my goal is to get her roadworthy (ish) and registered this year, then start to make her pretty next year. But just yesterday I hit a major milestone worth mentioning : I took her out for her first run (in what I presume to be several years of being ignored and abused)

For those interested, the full story so far is here

Excellent news Mike!
I did hear that the day of reckoning was getting close to when you would fire her up in anger. :)
If you have done work in the engine it might be worth changing the oil after a few runs to clear out anything lying around and also invest in a magnetic dipstick in place of the standard one as that will hopefully pick up any debris floating about. Think they are about £20 now but give me a shout if you are struggling to find a supplier.
Good news is that that is the hard bit done.
Cosmetics you can work on as you go along. There is a danger that if you take her off the road to do everything at once then 2 years later it is still a pile of bits in the garage.
There is at least one more single about to join the merry band in the SDC sometime soon hopefully and at least one other member has an eye open for something to join a modern Ducati.:D
The SDC mini Giro is looking more likely every month. ;)
There was talk last weekend of a bevel raiding party heading for Stafford on the hunt for bits in October at the classic show.
I will start a thread perhaps on this to judge response so we can all get booked in at the same place.
Always a few Ducati specialists at the show and guaranteed you will find something you need even if you didn't know it when you left home!
Look forward to seeing and hearing her on the road!

i would have left it in the skip

haha :)

Perhaps I should have - certainly it doesn't seem to be doing my bank balance any favours, but it's a fun little project regardless.

Truer words were never spoken! My Laverda is the perfect example. Still, it's all back in one place now so you never know I might just start on it this winter!:D

Well done Mike!
