Entitlement!

I know some of you will know about this but the most important thing is to photocopy your licence before sending it off for any changes. I think it is just another government led plan to get us off the roads.....cynical.....me?....;)

The Motorcycle Action Group (MAG) is currently investigating allegations that the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has 'lost' details of riders’ entitlements to ride motorcycles.
The full extent of the problem is not yet known, but it is likely that riders who have sent their licences to the DVLA to have changes to their personal details and addresses updated, may have their licences returned without the inclusion of their motorcycle entitlement.

It is thought the situation is being further compounded by what seems to be the lack of a back up records system. The DVLA is requiring riders who have been affected by this blunder to provide their own evidence of having passed their motorcycle test.
MAG is advising riders to take photocopies of their licences before they are sent to the DVLA for any updates.
MAG’s Campaigns Manager, David Short, says: “This is a very worrying situation. It will not only affect leisure riders but may impact on professional riders such as police, paramedics and despatch riders”.

Don't trust the DVLA to get anything right, car/bike docs come back with the wrong details on as well. I photocopy everthing I send to the DVLA then play spot the difference when the docs come back.

MCN picked up on how useless the DVLA are a good while ago, recent experience is that they haven't got any better.

Same thing happend to a Friend of My GF's. She sent off to change her address & a Provisional License came back, She had to re do her driving test.

this has been going on for twenty or so years. I remember at the time i passed my test. one of the sunday papers was doing an article on a guy who had sent his licence away for a change of address and it came back as a provisional. the dvla said the same then that it was up to him to prove he'd passed his test not them. since then ive always photocopied mine before its went back to them for any changes. it was not too bad back then cause i think sitting your test cost about £15. i wouldnt want to pay what it would cost now.

Fu** Licence

I remember years ago a mate sent off his provisional licence and received his full licence back but printed clearly on it was the designation "FUKK". We were impressed that he had (like James Bond?), a licence to Fu**.:)
