I have decided to take the plunge after much research and deliberation and i am selling my cherished CBR400RR (1999 one if the last) and looking to buy a 748 have ridden one and loved the torque, handling etc.

As i begin to start seriously looking can anyone provide a definitive check list.

Note:- i am mechanically minded and carry out all own servicing work, engine rebuilds on other bikes/cars in past so generally know what to look for although all the literature that i read makes buying a good one sound a bit of a mine field.

Thanks in anticipation.

PS if anyone has a good one for sale let me know!!!

if buying private, check the guys eyes! if buying trade ensure they speak the truth - write down what they say, to check later :D

Yeah good advice! if they are all David Blunkett then don't trust him, well shifty! Invest in a lie detector for the dealers!

It HAS to have FULL service history, including all the MOTs and reciepts for services completed (Belts etc).

If hasn't then walk away, even if your heart says it's a bargain.

I bought mine from a guy in Huddersfield who had been given it to him by DUK for sponsoring a race team. It was 3 years old and had done 600 miles. 1st service hadn't been done. I bought it for a lot less than the going price and It has cost me £900 over the 3 years I had it. I got it serviced and it has been my best buy/bike ever!;)
