First ride out on Strada

Got new battery in and fired her up,might be a problem with reg/rec,the voltage output across the battery is just within the figures stipulated by haynes but I've pm'd Derek.....naturally:lol2:).
The 916 compared to the 900ss carby is alot easier at slow speeds, junctions etc and she snicks into neutral easily.
Handling without any fettling is magic...maybe a tad hard at the rear but I'll leave alone untill i get her in for a proper set up.
Power.... yep..... its got that:D:D
The noise is very different to the carby ss,much more of a kinda knarly bark more raucaus at some points in the rev range :dunno: :D
Helibars .....bars/body lean position....I kinda feel a bit odd, neither here nor there, half up and getting buffeted by the wind in wrong place, weird to describe....certainly doesn't feel right,I know i was negative about them before trying them but don't think I'll be keeping them,Hindsight (Mike) suggested dropping the helibars a little to see how it felt.
Fingers crossed the reg/rec is ok and I'm not panicking about getting it sorted for next Sundays run:eek:

Yeah, CJK, mine's taking some getting used to too coming from a BM. For instance got the bike out on Saturday and left it warming on tickover. So glad I did cos a pool of oil developed under it is seconds.

Turned out to be a looser than it should have been oil filter and it took me nearly two minutes to fix. I was well ticked off I can tell you. All those tales about reliability appear to be true, I mean that would never happen to another make would it? :lol2:

I had Renthal Fatbars put on and the DP bigger screen to try and sort the buffeting or rather lack of smooth air flow out. Anything over 80 and the bottom of my (crash) helmet is forced hard against my chin. It's not the fit of the helmet, cos get up out of that messy air and it is fine.

Having fun though because, yes, it's a 'no worries' kind of ride so far as handling and performance are concerned. As ever the limiting factor is me.

Nothing to do with the bike - it was the guy that fitted it :p
Good you had an enjoyable run though.

Delighted to hear you got out. Hope the weather was good. No idea what it was like outside as we didn't leave the show till nearly the end.

First of many runs this season I hope.:D

Good news you were able to get out Colin ... and you sound like a happy chap after the first run
fingers crossed for Sunday then eh ;):D

Looking forward to seeing the 916 on the run this Sunday. The twists of the Duke's Pass ( Futa Pass ?...pah !) should be just the ticket for you to get a real feel of it.

Derek agrees the out put of 13.79v 3500rpm is a little low but within what the books say,so I'm just leaving it for now,I'll pick up a r/r as soon as I'm feeling a little more flush (yes I'm that skint:o).

Thanks Derek, the wiring from the alternator looks to have been upgraded already,Mike (Hindsight) spotted it last week,I'll check connections again though at regulator.

everything looks good ?,clean,no signs of overheating, supple wiring...gave a couple of connectors a clean out etc but don't particularly think they needed it.
