I'm sure it depends on how they are cooked. I think they usually season and pan fry them in the south. I made squirrel stew one time and it was okay. Kind of plain though not gamey(that would be gross). Not worth the work in my opinion. Paul said he's not interested in the pan fried version so I just shoot them for Tina to retrieve. I clean and freeze them. When I grind meat for dog food I'll add a few to the mix.
I got 2 this morning. It's very satisfying for Tina to retrieve them. She'll be mellow for the rest of the day.
There are more than enough squirrels around here. A next door neighbor had someone go to her house to trap them. They damaged the eave on her house, got into her attic and were doing further damage. Cute but nasty little things.

That's a shame - I expected them to be tastier given what they eat. I love the flavour of wild rabbit and all they eat is grass (well, 95%).
My ex wife phoned me one day when a squirrel got in the house - we had an upside-down barn conversion and this thing was trying to get out...she was trying to get it out, but they were both panicking and the thing ended up chasing her. It was one of the funniest things I've ever witness - her screaming down the phone while a squirrel was bossing her round the house.
