This will be a laugh for some who know that I never use my mobile phone and it can lie unanswered for days, however I would like to browse hotmail, google, maps, twitter (really!) and maybe even DuN :rolleyes: while on the move.

3 Mobile have a deal on for £18 a month which appears to give feck all (for a teenager) texts or calls but unlimited data.

Should be what I'm after - does anyone know where's the catch?

Also, I have never actually owned a mobile phone or seen a bill - I have always had a nice sturdy no-frills Nokia provided by work, are below charges only applied after you have used up your 'free' 100 mins or is there some catch here that I need to look out for.

Downhill from here, it will be liquid cooling, fuel injection and multiple cylinders next :p
 
If they charge for access to voicemail (some do, some don't) it's usual for those charges to be taken from your inclusive minutes if you have some left.

I can help you set up your new phone with email, DuN, etc if you have any problems Lindsay - I've had a succession of Android phones and am a dedicated fiddler :D

One thing to check is if you get reception on three where you need it (home, work, mistresses house, etc). I know for example that in Carnoustie, the Vodafone signal is so strong I can practically pick it up on my fork while I'm having my tea, but I need to hang out the window upstairs to get even a few bars on t-mobile.
 
Yeah..... I think that rate applies after the free (100???) minutes are used up.

FYI unlimited data wont be unlimited....there will still be a cap on it (check the smallprint...prb 1 or 2 GB)...called "fair usage".

These phones (and the android software) are pretty good but you will probably get a better and cheaper deal elsewhere eg

100 mintues/texts? doesnt sound a lot, especially for a teenager, but for reference:-
I never use my house phone, and according to my free app (phonalyzer) I use on average
about 100 minutes PM (out of 500)
about 100 texts PM (out of unlimited)
less than 300MB Data PM (and I go online with my phone a lot!) out of 500MB


But that's just me.
 
Lindsay, you should be able to get a better deal than that,you might have to choose a different mobile though, i'm paying £18 a month, 900 mix & match + i got them to throw in unlimited free internet, my mobile is a nokia 5230, very simple to use, free sat nav with nokia mobs,camera is sh@te though, plenty choice with newer mobiles out there, 3 are usually good at offering free extras if you ask :D
 
I've got a Blackberry from Virgin on £10.21 a month (It used to be £10 until VAT went up to 20%). It's a 24 month contract and provides 50 minutes of calls, 500 texts and unlimited data. I never get anywhere near my voice minutes because my house phone is free to landlines within the UK so I usually use that at home. Virgin uses the T-Mobile network and coverage used to be pretty sketchy in places but there was some sort of tie up with Orange last year and I now have access to both the T-Mobie and Orange networks which is a huge improvement.

I pretty much dont use the pc in the house anymore, but i do hammer my mb allowance and go over every month, will say the samsungs are good phones, very easy to use
