How best to protect new paintwork

As per my other (tongue in cheek) post, this is a brand new bike to which I’ve to fit a lot of carbon fibre and other goodies. The questions here however are:

1. How best to protect the painted plastics - a PPF or ceramic coating or a mixture of both.

2. How best to protect the exposed metal both painted and not? ACF50?

I only asked my painter yesterday, he said only use Muslin Cloth and recommended the below Polish stating the expensive ones were all snake oil in comparison.
Mr Sheene on bare alloy, although you probably won’t find any on there 🤔

Def go with PPF on paintwork, may seem a bit pricey but no polish or coating will give the same level of protection against stone chips and scratches, just do your research to find someone good to fit it.

Ppf is a clear plastic wrap and prevents all scratches and stone chips not even in the same league as acf 50 as that wears off, Ppf is a lifetime job it's the first thing that goes on all my bikes day one.. Expensive though 👍
 
A PPF film will give the ultimate protection and I never bother with acf 50 as I wash my bike after every spin then I apply silicone spray.. My mates like acf as they might not bother cleaning their bikes for months at a time keeping the acf protection intact 👍

Definitely PPF - always have it on my bikes. I did my sons mountain bike myself - most of it was pre-cut for the bike and fitting was remarkably easy as the baby soap/water mix makes it easy to slide around until positioned. The tricky bit is the templating, and the bike was quite fiddly as it had tight curves. If there is a kit available pre-cut for a bike it is a few hours work to fit and quite a satisfying job.

I suspect I shall be buying it in a roll by the metre. I’ll do some research but I don’t think there’s a kit pre-cut for the Pikes Peak Multi. I’ll probably practice on mine first.

Looking at it this morning it looks like the best way to do it would be to remove every panel, wrap it and then reinstall the panel.

Next question. Would people apply it over bare carbon fibre as well?

I applied it to all the main vulnerable bits on the Tesi - including all the under seat area from the shock to the tail light which is all carbon.

I bough an 800mm x 500mm sheet and it was only about £10 , you can pay millions 👀

Had a look back on my eBay history and what I bought is no longer listed.

Isn’t the Pikes Peak basically the same shape as the other V4’s, pre cut would be a doddle - I had to strip the parts off and make templates from paper and it was a right fuss 🥵

Pretty sure there are Multi sets available - I my Multi done by Race By Design when I bought it - they might sell the kits they pre-cut as they do a lot of bikes. I have PPF on the sides of the carbon mudguards. Impossible to see it. Also it is the the clock faces which I expect helps a bit with sun fade on the older bikes.

If you can get a pre cut kit it's well worth it 👌

Yes absolutely - is it matt or gloss CF?
