Insuring Riding Kit

Because of an 'off' last year I've had to replace all my gear, & to replace it all again if I was stupid enough to crash again would be very bad for the coffers.
My insurance doesn't cover the kit, & neither does the house contents policy.
Does anyone have their stuff insured separately?

Are you sure about the house contents ? My helmet was replaced under the house policy when I dropped it, sent 'em some pics and Hein Gericke did the replacement quote - in fact Hein Gericke had a word template on the PC for houshold claims !

Bennetts were offering free cover for riding gear if you took out an online policy , when using a link from EBAY. I dont know if the offer is still running, might be worth considering come renewal time.

Felt like giving a short sharp answer when I read this.........but it turns out I am covered. My Mrs called them up earlier this year when I decided to carry on biking & was told 'no' - think they said it was because the stuff wasn't known by them or somesuch.
This time they said as long as any individual item isn't worth more than £1500 it's fine.

So a claim forms' on the way.....:)

likewise. . . .

very strange.

As RJ said, if you have an all risks/personal belongings section added to your contents policy you should be covered up to the "unspecified" limit selected.
There may be a "single article limit" of say £1500. That should not be an issue with the gear unless you have very expensive leathers.
Speaking to call centres will produce different answers depending to whom you talk!
