Is this legal?

Since the parking light isn't legally required to be on while the bike is being driven, does it matter if it's blue?

Photo doesn't show it too well, it's a deeper blue ( 5 LEDs) and quite a bit brighter than the standard light.

There's a white version of the same bulb but I imagine that will be really bright, and it shines out to a pretty wide angle, probably about 135 degrees

umm now this reminds me of a true storie

when i was young and you lot were still a fare bit older than me i went to the BSB round at Oulton park its only a couple of years ago it was the one with the spectacular fuel tank leak /fire on the warm up lap (at the other side of the circuit from where we were

anyway i went down to stafford and a few of his mates and i traveled the few miles to the circuit and at the time r kid brother had a blke headlight one of them 35 mm dichroic ones or something to match his blue bike and all that

with hind sight this was a bit of a daft idea a slighly dubious headlight and going to a BSB meeting where obviously there will be a police presence to direct traffic and stuff

this kind of prevented a sooth sale in over the bridge ad the police man pointed and politly said, YOU STOP i was tail end charlie at the time so i didnt hear the conversation but i gather it was allong the lines of "that wont be on your bike when you leave WILL IT :!"

anyway it kinda looks like youve nicked a chav'y windscreen washer off a car maybe

im sure you could argue its an 'ice blue ' marker light
theres plenty of that sort of thing about theres more serious crimes but i think its the impersonateating thats a tad worrieing for me

r kid brother did brag about how quick cars moved out of his way

That did it, I'm ordering a white one - making myself more visible to other road users, especially from the side, can't be a bad thing.

MoT tester informed me last week that side/parking light is not part of the test.

True, but the question was really whether or not you're allowed to show a blue light of any kind to the front.

Anyway, I was starting to think it looked a bit naff even before Scotty's comment and I'm definitely going to change it to white. Being brighter and having a wider spread of light can only be good from a safety viewpoint. The standard bulb provides little more than decoration.

BTW it's 6 LEDs, not 5.

I think if you are showing a sidelight or headlight in anything other than white then they will nick you for it. That light on the 749/999 is a sidelight that Ducati
put there because they had forgotton to put it on and needed to have something to make it legal. I think the chavs get away with the coloured washer lights because they are not a headlight or sidelight.

My son got a 30 pound fixed penalty for showing a blue light inside his car. The rear speakers had blue leds in them and the only way you could see them from outside was by looking down on them from inside a police transit right on his back bumper at the lights
