Italian Bike Choice

I'm in the fortunate position of soon being able to afford an aldditional bike to my much loved Multistrada. I fancy a more focussed ride to compliment it such as an later SS900 or 748 but yesterday I came across a Bimota DB4 in tricolour, of course.

http://www.cybermotorcycle.com/euro/brands/bimota_db4.htm

I am very smitten with it as its on 02 plate, impossibly low mileage but at nearly £6k seems a little salty. If anyone can be troubled I love to hear any opinions from all you enthusiasts (I know Gizmo is a fount of all knowledge!)
on this choice and pricing or indeed any input to guide me elsewhere if appropriate.

Very little info on the web to guide me by the way. Thanks for bearing with me, for any help.

Michael's away working in Germany and doesn't have access to internet at present so he'll not be able to post on this until next week.

He came very close to buying a bimota before deciding to buy the laverda :)

I'm no expert, but £6k for the DB4 is not overly excessive, assuming it's a minter.
As with all exotica, it's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it - do you want to pay that sort of money for a stablemate for your multistroodle? Will you achieve what you want with a less expensive bike? Your heart will tell you.

(Now, where can I borrow £6k at short notice ...)

I do seem to remember there are a couple of Bimoto's that were considered to be a bit of a lemon, although they have made some bikes that are worth a fair bit they have had their mistakes too. I don't know much about Bimota's and if I were you I would find out loads before any commitment or stick to the bikes you know!

I have a leaning towards a Bimota but part of the problem is that the ones that come up for sale seem to sit unsold for a long time or if on ebay attract few bids and don't hit reserve. A case if you have one it is worth more than people will pay. There are horror stories about some parts availability doing the rounds but I am not sure if this is another urban myth in same way that dukes are unreliable. like the others say ask around and speak to owners who are not trying to sell you their bike!

 Thanks for all your input so far guys & gals! I hear what your all saying.

Points raised so far.

Not to worried about parts as urban myth methinks, other Bimota's around usually to big and powerful for a girl like me! Which Bimota was Gizmo interested in? Glad £6 doesn't seem to riduculous. Can't find anything useful so far at North Leics Motors. Etc.

I'm away for the weekend not biking but travelling darn sarf for a wedding so will resume research next week. I can't tell you how helpful all your input has been. I'm getting closer to a descision.

Yers less than usual there at the moment. They did have DB1s,2s,3s etc etc And I think they are the importer? The Vyrus is a bit special, price is too. But the new 1200 Morini looks very interesting...http://www.motomorini.co.uk/new_corsaro_1200_motomorini.htm
