Italian Sportsbike Club

Michael/Gizmo has kindly allowed me to put up a quick post about the new club I have set up.

Its still in its early days (day 7 tomorrow) but we have 50 members so far.

Currently the club is found on http://www.italiansportingclub.co.uk but from tomorrow assuming the host does his job the club is being renamed Italian Sportsbike Club with address http://www.italiansportsbikeclub.com

I hope some of you partake in our club which currently is just the forum page but will expand soon...

Michael thanks again for allowing the post and your help along the way

Cool somewhere else to post :D

Well I've registered just waiting to be approved.... it's 50/50 LOL!

Registered and accepted! Is this another nail in the darkside coffin then?;)

Having had a look at it I prefer the way this site works, it looks better and is less cluttered!

It's early days steve as with all new forums, plus the software driving it has a big say in what can and can't be done... it's the content that counts, saying that I've just said hello over there so no doubt it will go downhill from no on!

Sorry Paul :D

No problem Jon!

Yes the software currently is not very tailorable. We have a decent logo on the way but also there is a new software version arriving in the next few weeks which we can tailor a lot more.

I must admit I didn't like it first of all but have got used to it now I've had it a week....

It's a real shame Ozz, you've put so much time and money into getting it running and trying to promote it too.

Fingers crossed you might change your mind

Sadly, I don't think I will despite loving having the site.

I just think it is dropping in popularity and I don't have the time or enthusiasm to try and turn the tide.

However, there may be someone taking it over from me possibly....

I'm sorry to say Ozz that this site is the only one I post on now although I have signed up to a few others I have not looked on them for a long time. I'm sorry to say but IMO you are just a victim of better and more popular websites and forums. Now if you had called it Italianbikedown-south.com you might have picked up some unhappy peeps from the dark side and it could have been so different:laugh:

Yep Steve you are right. The other sites look better, run better and are more popular. Ducatisti also being on a massive upward trend also did not help.

I should have called it Ducati-sarf-of-Watford.com!

But its fine. I am not worried, I have enjoyed it but am just sad to see it all end (and see the pile of tee shirts and stickers sat in the corner!).

I'm not sure they could be called 'better' Ozz. The main problem you have is that the other sites are marque specific, and yours is attempting to cover a very broad spectrum. In truth, this rarely works, since most owners like to feel they're corresponding with kindred spirits when they post.

I post on the various Ducati sites now and then, and at other times on the MV and VFR sites. I'd rarely post RC30 related stuff on any of the other sites since I'd fear a lack of response (unless I'm baiting the natives - which I'll admit has happened on occasion :D ) I did post once or twice on your own site with regard to my MV, but since there were so few other MV owners registered I felt it more appropriate to post my messages elsewhere (..after all, it'd be unreasonable to expect Ducati owners - who were in the majority on your site - to have more than a passing interest in my machine).

So, whilst none of the above is a criticism of the site Ozz, it may well be an explanation of why it struggled to attract multiple posts. Those with only a cursory interest in Moto Guzzi, Benelli, Moto Morini, MV etc. may well have done as I did and looked elsewhere for a site more specifically aimed at them and their chosen machine.

Of course, I may be wrong..!

Steve

It's a real shame Ozz, but with less time having to manage the site you can go back to the old days when you used to be posting all the time :)

sorry to hear you are stopping it Ozz as i know how much work it all takes to setup! as Claire says, more tome for posting or even riding your bike

Cant read that unless your a logged in member Ozz, but then it'll be deja vu for some of us anyway.

I tried to log in, but it has been disabled:rolleyes:

I agree with Steve, I'm interested in Ducati and while I have a passing interest in other Italian bikes I don't know enough about them other than Laverda! So as here is geographically and has a main interest in Ducati then here I shall be and on the DOC as well!

The DSC post was apparently pulled a while ago!

Its sad though really as have just bought vbulletin and managed to import the old database and started fiddling with it:

www.italiansportsbike.co.uk/home/php

But when I thought about how few peole were posting I wondered why I should bother spending hours trying to work out how to make the new site look as good as this, DSC and Ducatisti. The reality is I can't do websites and the coding etc looks like Latin!
