JHP Today - D16 first service

Freak

Is it still summer?
Just a quick post to say as ever how good the service is at JHP/Ducati Coventry.

The D16's first service today, so I rode over and spent a few hours while Buzz did the honours, tweaked the CO2, fitted the hugger and a quick fettle here and there, plus a free tank pad!

The bike felt much more responsive on the way home down the A roads... bliss.

And just as I closed the garage it started to rain, now that's timing.

Happy days

It must be a good feeling to ride away after a service and the dealer hasn't emptied yer pocket of wodge:D

and forgetting that you gave him it upfront with the payment for the bike so to speak:cool:

Well I didn't buy it from JHP so maybe they feel a bit different, they certainly didn't show it but I guess they claim it back through Ducati.

But I did spend quite a bit of money as I always do in there.

Me too when I had to hang around at Cusworths in Donnie and DL to get my bikes serviced I always ended up buying stuff, T-shirts, bits for the bike and a rucksack to carry them home in!

Jon, you wanna let Stuart know where you got your hugger, he wants one for his bike (or should I say my bike:D )

Yup JHP got loads of stuff in for them, huggers, tyres, screens back in next week, the full Ti bolt kits (v. bling) and pipes coming in soon

mmmm, one's not amused to be BLUNT    My D16RR has now passed 3000 miles, and four tyres, 3000 fairly hard miles and the swing arm and entire carbon tail unit is PEPPERED with chips. Been banging on about huggers for weeks. The swing arm will need re-painted and the tail section is a write off, underneath has been sand BLASTED.

LIVE as we speak, just been told hugger ain't arriving until September - now this isn't DG's fault, but Ducati UK, and I know you read this forum - watch out for the letter - you'll not miss it, it's the one with smoke coming out it

Jon - can you PM with details on your hugger please.

It really p1sses me off, it didn't take NASA to work out with such sticky tyres that this was going to be an issue....a £40k bike in the paint shop, not happy, not happy ONE BIT.

u mean u dont get full titanium bolt kits as standard :D

FFS - you've got me away again - you should see the RUST on mine...   Spent entire Monday night with WD40 and a stiff brush getting the rustly bolts cleaned (didn't work).

I'm trying NOT to go on a Mr Angry rant here - but it's F***ing hard.

Once the rust has set in the only way is to polish the fastener - unfortunately that removes the plating and makes the matter worse. Only solution is to purchase a titanium bolt kit or stainless but stainless would add to the weight. I replace mostly all my fasteners on my bikes but at the cost of the Desmo maybe you'd expect titanium but they're not cheap.

Geoff,

Thanks for that.

Absolutely right, that's why I used WD40 and a light/stiff bristle brush, just to get the surface rust off, but it's a bit more than just "surface".

The bikes not even 8 weeks old yet, and done 3000 miles, so as you can gather I enjoy it :D :D BUT, after such a short period it's showing it's age, and that's not good.

Maybe i'm being too critical, but rust and stone peppered body panels and swing arm doesn't look good.

Once you've cleaned the rust off, ACF50 works much better than WD40 at keeping the rust at bay. It would be a good idea to coat all the fasteners with ACF50 until you replace them. It might not be a bad idea use it on the other plated items as well.

Extra weight of stainless - come on, that can't be a problem on a DD16RR? :D

Titanium has a nasty habit of galling if not installed correctly - I hate the stuff and would use stainless every time.

If you want me to do a complete job of stripping and replacing fasteners with stainless items, plus full winterising service with ACF50, just let me know and I'll come and collect it! You'll get it back better than new. :D

No charge, just cover my travel costs. :D
