hi, i noticed a few peeps were into their kawas, maybe more than
that horrible term Riceburners, whatever the @@@@ that means..
My brother in law who does custom bikes and does journalism pages for streetfighters is
building a z650 with gpz750 motor for me this year coming.
just wondered what you guys thought of retro kawas.

my dad has always had kwaks he's had 2 Z1's a ZXR750 H1 * i loved that bike and a ZX9R

now the three kwaks ive always loved and even had the funny idea of buying one day are the ZX7R above me as B&P has pictured ^.^ a ZRX1200 ive always thought they looked bad ass and a ZX12R just for the bonkers apeal on top of that its looks waaaaaaaaaay better than that ugly busa thing.

Miss my ol' P6. Like the w800's in the showrooms just now too

jus make sure it's green

now below, sorry Wulfie, went to find a better pic but you replied in-between, couldn't find pic anyway!

I've had more kawasaki's than any other make and when I used to race I was sponsored by a Kawasaki dealer too. I still have my ZRX1100 and I'm in the process of uprating it to ZZR spec as well as other mods.

no probs lol still a very nice picture haha is she selling it lol

btw happy new year :P

I've owned 4 stroke ZX7 and ZX9R C1 and 2 stroke (H1) kawa's , loved the Z1A/B but couldn't afford it at the time and the Z650 was never quite the same :) 750 motor might have a bit more grunt, the ZX7 I had was amazing, prefer the 9 though, still rate it as one of the best sport tourers ever made. Out of choice I'd still like an H1 or H2 in the garage just to remind myself how peaky they were, how crap the brakes were and how bad the handling was :D

Enjoy, be interested to see it when its finished

yeah, same as you michael, i had a C2, the kinda silvery blue number, cause i couldn't afford the 900, any of that range z1. z900
looked amazing, i also had the gpz 750 A2, so yeah i get the power difference, but the styling..
which is why i got thinking about this thread.
like monster 998 says, a lot of us had a Z back in the eighties, and its good to see we now have ducatis, it must be a styling thing. dare i say (art)
and the bit you say about the brakes,
well that's what we're saying, 70's styling with modern wheels brakes etc. :)

Never really been a fan of the unfaired Kwaks, but it's impossible to deny that this is a thing of beauty:

I learned to ride on a KH100 (full revs and dump the clutch for hill starts :D)and then graduated to a GPZ500S (crossply tyres taught me about crash repairs ). I think the GPZ900R was the bike that caught my attention as a youngster and got me into biking.

They seem to have lost their way on the styling front recently though. I had to stop myself retching when I saw the Versys 1000 in brown.

Yeah, kawa guys and ducati guys

that blue job is not far from the styling of the pic i posted at first.

but the brown job looks a wee bit like one of those big ducati scrambler tourage type things.. :)

I learned on a KH100 too - the EX with disc brake! Only had them until I could afford a Duke. I've still got a gpz 1100 zx which hasn't turned a wheel in 4 years, but I wouldn't sell it - it's everything dukes aren't but it's got soul!

Mine was a GPz900r A2 in blue & silver.
First ever new bike. Coincidentally bought from a shop where Wee Harry ran the parts counter and George twirled the spanners.

i think the old z range are ultra cool and have owned lots of kawas before i caught the italian bug
i have built a few modded kawas over the years with 2 monoshocked z650s one with a gpz 750 motor and the other with a gpz750 turbo motor

Hate Z1s, some tolley on one decided to overtake VERY close just as I turned right. Cost me 6 weeks in hospital, a year wi a stookie and a 6 month delay in passing my RAF aprenticeship. Pabriza, if your out there your still a prick............
