I've done really well on here asking for recommendations, so here goes again :)

Anyone know of any brilliant helmet painters out there?

two come to mind.

rich art is very good and does some relaly complex stuff, but is busy and not cheap.

Rage Designs. Mike is looking at doing more helmets again this year and is very very good and is based in Warrington

Jools at Streetbeat here in Harrogate - 07778 369249. Tell him I sent you - he's looking for a 996 at the moment too.

Just spoken to Mike at Rage...nice guy ...really friendly and helpful, and if you reckon his stuff is that good then I'm going with him :D

Have a look at the Nurse one in the Mural section! A good way to distract anyone following closely behind ;)

Eonan,

Mike's one of my long time mates, to give you a clue to his list of lids he's done for people...

Casey Stoner
Carl Fogarty
Chris Stalker Walker
Steve Hislop
Sean Emmett
Michael Rutter

plus countless others including me :D

Currently painting the GSE bikes for Greg and Leon, also did the Renegade bikes until they packed up, plus a few other BSB teams also most of the Ducati UK bikes go through hime for painting now, the GSE/Airwaves reps were all done by him too

Well he sounded a really nice guy, and that just seals it! He has all these Pros on his books and yet he still treats some random nobody the way he did when I called today  I hadn't even asked for ideas, yet he was wanting to know the bike, the colours of the leathers...then offering some ideas as to what might look good. Plus I thought his price estimate was brilliant too!

What sort of money is involved in getting a helmet painted? I appreciate the more work the more expensive but is it £2/300 region upwards? All those advertising don't seem to quote prices presumably as each one is individually done. I have priced getting a bike painted in the past and was curious how the two would compare.

Don't worry, I will :D

239desmo...you're spot on with the prices...ranging up to well over the £1000 mark for bizarre things involving chroming etc. Mike was saying that most folks (inc the racers) end up paying around £250

Eonan,

You might like to speak to a guy I just used in Aberlady. He did a great job on my helmet a couple of weeks ago. His name is Grant Preston and you can reach him at grantpreston@btinternet.com

I got him to paint my arai in preparation for my new 1098 which should be in my garage in time to go to the TT.

I will take a couple of photos of the helmet tomorrow and post them here.

Cheers,

Gavin.

Scottch,

Pretty reasonable at £240 I thought. All I need is the bike now! Grant also guarantees his paintwork for a year. No questions asked.

Cheers,

Gavin.

Eonan, Mikes a smashing bloke and as freak said he does the Airwaves guys and rececently repaired my Rep and at the same time did my lid and single seat conversion as an airwaves rep. Did the Lid for £200. I'll put some pics on later. I think its a brilliant job... saw some of his other projects , class design
and imagination.

ooh, I quite like that - very tasty - I wonder if Mart DG has seen it, would suit his colour scheme too. :)

I suppose the only negative thing I would add here (coz I've had a sad, bad day) is that you will be advertising someone elses produce, in this case someone elses chewing gum, for naff all (unless that is, you have struck a lucrative deal with them)
