Maxiss Tyres

Just got some of these tyres for my Multi 1000ds as I am going all over Europe in two weeks. I've always had Michelin 2Ct's or Avon and really I wanted Avon Storm but the local dealer persuaded me otherwise. I wasn't bothered about the money and have always found Avon to be the best overall. He was willing to put a pair on but suggested I tried Maxiss. Never heard of them before. Only had them on two days (about 200 miles); my impressions are that directional stability is excellent but because of this I can't make my mind up whether or not I've lost feel. I think I must have been kind of dragging the 2CT's around corners, when light; it was an effort but the feeling and feedback was very good. The new tyres just seem to do what you want with very little effort and I'm not sure whether this is good as the limit warning may be very sudden. I ride in all weather (Got a great new car 18 months ago but have only done 3000 miles in it - that's another story) out of preference and have found the Michelins to be great, never had an issue, even when pushing in the rain. Anyone else got these tyres ? Not rained since getting them so don't know wet weather performance. They warm up very quickly in the dry.

Maxxis are Cheng Shin Tires "premium" brand name and CST make a lot of tyres for other more well known brands! they've got a lot of experience.

they are getting a good reputation in dirt, motoX, off road are over here the Supermoto GoldSpeed is considered one of the best tyres.

Stability and light steering usually come from the tyre profile and carcass not the rubber compound which provides grip so just because a tyre is easy to change direction doesn't mean it lacks grip. Every tyre is different when it starts to slide and tthe only way to find out is for it to happe

Personally I think most of the good brand names are close when it comes to performance, the biggest factor is type of tyre you fit a Pilot Power CT2 is a sport bike tyre, a Pilot Road CT2 is a touring tyre and the difference between them would be noticeable but you'd fit the one that suited the application.
