My point being though is it's not raising the bar in terms of standards or innovation, it's just a "bog standard" cosmetic bolt on kit. Ten a penny I'm afraid. But nice. :)

If you closely however the clutch cover (smart as it is with the ducati slash) is very rough around the edges, you can see the "saw tooth" edge to the aperture.

boltage

You're right Pete
bog standard with bolt on..
i was off today and just messing around..
however, i'm going to get a ducati to my brother in law, Yantosh and see what he can do with something.. his stuff is good.

regards, molenz :)

A frame chop, ohlins shock, Keihin FCR carbs, a modified airbox, oberon clutch upgrade + 916 master cylinder, Motogadget instrumentation, and a custom top yoke, clip-ons and seat. Plus a rather natty paint job and all done by a first timer in their shed!

It still looks like a monster (a plus) and the whole thing seems cohesive. IMO he's ended up with a nicer end product than Roland Sands can manage and spent about £35K less!

Most folks that modify Monsters seem to retain the original styling (if it's not broke.....) and there are a great number of trick bits available so for most it's easier to buy than make.

My own one will be largely standard when completed but will (hopefully) look fairly unique despite this.

When the original bike has such iconic looks it''s diffcult to change it and still get it right (IMHO).

Apart from the frame chop it's a bolt on job. no innovation, just money based/catalogue mods. I doubt he even got his hands dirty. Again, not raising the bar..................

Well, there we agree to differ, because to my eye it looks like a much nicer bike than a lot of the monsters that have had a lot more money lavished on it.

It seems that most of the comments on the article seem to be in agreement, and the fact it features on the UKMOC calendar suggests than even other Monstristi like the look of it :)

Don't forget to check the guy's blog for some tips ;)
