More rumours of a 1098 engined naked Fighter

Michael, reminds me of BP, when they allocated £2.4m for a new logo and changed BP to BP, just made it italics... that had us scratching heads.

The Puma connecton is funny, tried to buy shoes through the dealer network and ended up buying them from FOOTLOCKER in Glasgow

I franchise this business, and it's a fundamental part of the agreeement to supply the products so advertised. I thought that was basic, apparently not.

Had a 2nd look at the Streetfighter this morning.
Still have the same opinion.
Looks like a JAP mock up that would grace the NEC motor cycle show.
Not the best design from Ducati.
I know they are trying to draw in other types of bikers & markets change, but I will stick to their normal set of designs.

The logo looks ............... as well.

I was going to buy a shed load of gear for XMAS but will wait for the sales now :D :D :D

Check out the link to the Brand New part of Under Consideration, you gt a lot of discussion on that type of thing.

Ducati have official partners and licensees, there are loads of them. Ducati allow use of the IP in exchange for a licence fee, this might be a joint venture or even allow the licensee to control the product line and distribution ( I'm almost certain that's the deal with Bianchi and Tumi but will check) that product is sold via the licensees network and whilst it may be possible for a Ducati dealer to access it I'd bet it won't be easy. Ducati don't care either way, they get paid the fee off the number sold ( typically in turnover or at least that's how I've always done our licensing deals) so aren't bothered who sells it.

In the case of Puma the Foot Locker stores got the footwear first, I'd think this is a deal done between Puma and FootLocker to guarantee an initial volume to make it viable, selling shoes from 30 Ducati stores around the UK probably doesn't give them enough market penertration :)

Check out this link, its the timeline for that footwear and you'll see Ducati stores or bottom of the list.

When I was in the US last month I popped into the Puma store in the Fashion Mall in Vegas, they had loads of Ducati branded clothing I'd never seen before, it reminded me of all that that Ferrari stuff you see in the high street and brought home that licensing has its downsides as well :(

Yep, we looked in the Puma store in DC and it had lots of additional stuff we have never seen before, lots of Monster related gear.

PMSL!!

BUT ........ I like it :o

yeah, but you also like the race system for the D16RR so your taste needs questioned my fair President... anyway, have you beat Obama yet for the presidency ?? :D :D :D "Barricade Obama" we'll call you now :D :D

FOUR MORE YEARS, FOUR MORE YEARS

The bike is stunning in the flesh. It's a whole new bike, not a stripped 1098.

Just wait til u see one.

LOL Martin if Ducati sold a dog turd with a corse badge on you'd say it looked, smelt great in the flesh publically!!!

You're never going to say anything different on here let's be honest.

first pic in white, black frame

i know poor view...

thats better than the official Ducati ones, at least you can see some of the shapes! Headlight looks like its off a Monster but faired in, mirrors aren't quite the same as the KTM ones so back to expensive replacements :) 1098 seat unit, maybe more BSH that i first thought :)

I think its going to be a difficult sell at the prices Martin just quoted but Ducati have their vision and its what dealers like Martin are going to have to put up with for the next few years. They have been selling loads more bikes so it'll be interesting to see if this captures the imagination of the masses rather than Ducati fans.

btw headlight: every pic shows the two small 'evil' lights but not the main one in function. what ya think, are the small ones only parking lights or is the main light only for high beam ?

the smaller ones might be like the light that used to be on the 999 screen? lit all the time AIR

I hope Martin is right that it looks a whole lot better in the flesh.

There is actually nothing on that bike I like.:o

The tank looks out of place with the headlight which looks as if someone stuck it there until they could find somewhere else for it.
The exhausts just add to the whole clumsy look of the bike.

PMSL

1997 I think Cologne show, I may have the original Laverda launch photos hidden away but those shots reminded me of this.....

looks like the zorsts wil need to come off to take the rear wheel out ...a nice termi 2 into 1 should sort that tho ...couple of nice touch`s on it and will look forward to seeing it in the flesh

That bike is horrible! If they had at least kept the underseat exhaust it wouldn't have looked so massive.

  Jon, in fairness that's his JOB !!! But, I do agree, a few short years ago the same Martin introduced me to the most technologically advanced bike, a groundbreaker in design, looks and power.... so I bought a

Ducati 999

I've said it before, DG's PASSION is unique, and if that means Martin telling us a bike is ACE, when we can all see sh1t.. I actually LIKE that. How many of us in business sell products we don't like or maybe have total confidence in ????

I dunno - if you gave me the engine I wouldn't say no ;)

Actually, the side pic of the white one looks better. If you get rid of the over-large exhausts (which, let's face it will be the first thing anyone who buys it does) I think you would only need some improvements to the front light. It's definitely the front light unit I don't like. Get rid of the aerodynamic lamp and whack on twin round lights (either horizontally or vertically) and it would be a big improvement.

But hey, I like the look of the Multistrada, so I wouldn't trust my opinion on bike cosmetics :D
