The tyre issue is just an excuse. The facts are plain for anyone to see Ducati engineered a better bike that with the right rider proved more consistent. The Japanese and governing bodies do not like such as Ducati being better at engineering in their premier sport. They will not admit it, accept it and hasten to use any other excuse. I have read quite a few Triumph books and if my memory serves me right Triumph were continually getting stuffed by the Japs and the Americans persuading the governing bodies to alter the rules to favour their bikes and put Triumph at a disadvantage. What they did was disgraceful. The original Triumph Trident was a fantastic design with great potential, only let down by poor build quality and Honda's insistence on rule changes. The Trident had the 750/4 beat hands down on design long after the 750/4 came out but it wasn't allowed to race in the prestige races. The Triumph triples you see doing so well now would have been built long ago. Well that's my rant over and I haven't even had any alcohol.
