New UK Ducati Forum

Looks like they both have the same idea as Ducatisti i.e. sections for each type of bike.

Good luck to them but I'm very happy where I am.

+2 on Chiz's statement.

Neither will last. They look, sound and feel boring. Ducatisti rejects galore. Same old, same old. No real rideout sections that I could see, they're all over the place, we at least get together in the flesh. So to speak.

We might be same old same old too but at least we have character. Plus we're older and wiser than most. :)

+3 with Chiz's comment Hmmm..........i can see three name's i recognise from DUN on the forum that Miles posted about :D

 I just had a look at the new sites and somebody on one of them said " our forum ( DUN) lacks involvement " cheeky bugger

Like so many things in life, you only get out what you put in... ;)

IMO one of the reasons that Ducatisti often looked like Dodge City the night after pay day was the fact that very few of the members seemed to meet up or know each other in real life... that's one of the things the keeps DuN slightly more civilised.

Happy on here, and I haven't owned a Ducati for nearly 3 years.
Currently own a triumph, and haven't used the triumph forum for yonks.....
But I feel as if I know everyone on here.:)

It is a North/South thing.
If you look at most of the new members on DuN that said they wanted a new home were from London, East Anglia, Somerset.
Very few (in fact can't remember any) that were from within the existing DuN area.
Not sure what "lack of involvement" means either tbh.
As Miles says most folk on here know and have met several others and that gives it a different flavour.
Humour here is a bit more irreverant as a result but generally because folk know the butt of the joke it is taken in the spirit intended.
Never really bothered with the old Ducatisti but did they organise regular runs in different areas around the UK? Track nights? Social gatherings?
How much more "involved" can you get?
Good luck to anyone setting up a forum. If it becomes successful because there is a need for it then fine.
DuN is a good vibrant community and that is because those in the Northern half of the UK are a different breed to those in the South and have a different approach to life.
Some from here may join other forums ( I look in on Ozz's site) but most folk arrived here because they felt more at home than in Ducatisti and nothing has changed.
Miles is doing a first class job with keeping the site fresh and adapting as it grows. (As Michael did before him)
It is a big cyber world. Live and let live.

"a very friendly bunch but the forum lacks involvement ( topics don't change very often )"

This is the comment from DucatiForum - I couldn't disagree more - maybe he just doesn't like monster/ss rebuilds or insurance drama's ;)

But like a few comments here - if you take the time to try and get to know the people involved (i.e. get involved yourself) then it changes the whole dynamic IMO

What does
'lacks involvement' mean'
I don't understand that saying..
Anyone

Setting up a new website is like trying to organise an 18-30 'holiday in a care home.

Take it from me don,t do it.

The full comment was - Ducati up north for me, a very friendly bunch but the forum lacks involvement ( topics don't change very often ) I feel at home here already.

The person comes from Bakewell in the middle of the Peak District, famous for tarts and hills and they did think we were friendly.:D
