Noise Limits

Hi All, Some info from those who have!! Looking to book into a couple of track days, but have 54mm open system on my 996, I dont have access to a db meter so how do they test ? and is there anywhere I could go first to get it checked ?

There's a Wirral 100 Club race meeting at Oulton Park this Saturday (April 12).
There's usually a bit of noise testing of the race bikes goes on at Oulton - I'd think that you should be able to ask the tester to check your bike (and if not then at least you get to watch a full day's racing!).

There's sometimes noise testing at Three Sisters (Preston and District Club) too. For dates, see my "Roger the Racer - Team 'Never Prepared' - 2008" posting in the "Events, rideouts and meets" forum.

Unless you have done anything else or the pipes are very old then I wouldn't worry too much.

I have a full 54mm system on and at testing a few weeks back was only registering at 101db.

I have had tests up at 105 depending on the ability of the tester but have never failed on a trackday.

You will need baffles for a 98db day/evening though.
 
noise problems

I have a 748 with 45mm slip ons, sounds awesome. When I bought it off my mate he said it registered 104 db. But when I did Oulton on the 8 th of March they tested it at 106 dbs. So when I did cadwell at the end of last month I fitted db busters for the sound check.

You can t take any chances. The numpties at Ooulton did not even know it was a twin! Deer!

ps doing Cadwell on the 31st may with the www.Trackady.com mob if anyone fancies it.
