ProjectImola004

Just visiting
Been busy with a paint brush (well can actually), wacked a bit of silver paint on my track wheels because I didn't really like the black. It's only a rough job out of a can, afterall, they are only track wheels.
Try and imagine them turning (rather fast) on the track!!! :p
I'd welcome honest opinions please, whether you like it or hate it. I have attached an image with the all black wheels and the wire wheels for the road for comparison... :)

The silver wheels look far better in my opinion - the black wheels look too heavy. But the wire wheels look best in a classic way.

yeah I quite like them in silver :)

I do like them in black as well (Black rocks) but think that the silver completes the look better.

Spokes defo best! need spokey dokeys tho really

I like the black wheels more than silver tbh

thought about white?

Claire, when I got them (off ebay) I painted them black for that reason. But since seeing images of the Imola on the track, although black looks very agressive, on the Imola they spoil the 'classic' lines as Derek said. It was just an experiment really to somehow maintain the classic looks while on track, - bit of a permanent one really as the paints gonna be a bugger to get off if I change my mind again!!! :p Ian Struthers took these at the beginning of May - a good comparison I think.....

This is pure self indulgence and vanity going on here, I like my bike to look good all the time whether it be standing in the garage, thrashing round the track or trundling round the Highlands :p

Well, I may have found the solution for my dilema, Hagon's (down in Londonshire) will re-lace my rear wheel with a 4.25" rim for £200, allowing me to run 250 GP size rears; 160/165.
The ProjectImola chassis was always designed to run slightly narrower rear tyres than the 888,916 ranges, simular to the 900ss - namely 170/60s. Good race tyres in this size are quite rare these days. With the 160 at the rear, some of you guys out there running 750,600ss & M600/750s will appreciate just how much quicker steering and higher corner speeds these bikes are and can generate with skinny rear tyres. :)

...am I just waffling to myself or what - is anybody reading this atall????? :D

I like chrome & spokes - but the wasnt the question
so I go with silver (it's not done in Hamorite is it ??)

...funny that, yes it is Hamorite, goes against my perfectionist way but as I said, they are just my track wheels so I'm not bothered about re-blasting them and 2K-ing them again (I don't have the facilities anymore)

Thanks for your feedback folks, it seems you're divided in half really. It wouldn't change my plans atall but it was just to see what other people thought who aren't used to seeing different colour wheels on this sort of bike. :)

i like 160 rear tyre i find on the back roads my 750ss is as fast and sometimes faster than a lot of the bigger bikes and i still run out of front tyre before the rear

Aircooled, you need to fit a 120/70 front tyre instead of the std 120/60. Can't see from the avatar but it will solve your problem without sacrificing your sweet handling. :)

Yes, they look the DBs.

Question, could you get the alloys chromed? I guess not but they would look even better. There was an S4 Chromo with a chrome tank, how did they do that?

I wouldn't bother with the hassle, they are only track wheels. When I first bought them off ebay and blasted them in the work's blast cabinet, I was going to polish the rims, but got board after about 5mins with wet&dry and painted them black! :)

I assume the S4's tank is steel therefore easy to chromeplate.
