"Peanut" SL125, 1972/3 rebuild

Right. Motors in. Carbie on. Exhaust on. Some adjustment still to do...

So, ongoing fitting and refitting etc. Put a good pair of sprockets on with new chain but they are both undersized. So ratio is ok but running close to swingarm pivot. So I made a piece of hdpe to fit, drilled the corners and ziptied it on. Not original but will do a job. Then I was able to final.fit the chain guard.

Bit at a time, getting all my paint prep done. Doing a tank slosh on 2x tanks this arvo, they are behind the bikes on a heater drying out...Also had to trim back the reproduction chainguard to make it clear the sprocket cover on the no2 bike. Of course I stamped my mark on it by being a rough guinness with the angle grinder...
I have two reproduction seats, one from thailand which fits perfectly and the other from indonesia and it barely fitted anywhere and took a while to fab up some rubber block supports.🙄

Unless you can make the honda and 125 names look like factory rather than someone with a small brush and a small tin of enamel paint has done it, then I would leave those unpainted

So a part of my paint prep has been to repair 2x side covers. I have 4 originals, 2xR and 2x L. Both left ones are damaged, one has a tiny crack and t'other has a corner busted off and it was badly repaired there. So the crack will get a tiny fibreglass bandaid on the inside and the busted corner will be built up with fibreglass. So I made a small mould to make it as close to original as poss. I had some old builders bog and managed to get enough workable to build it up. Also burst the tube of hardener all over my hand.
Which was nice.

Been a while since I updated. I have all my bodywork in getting sprayed, for both bikes and I have started doing the wiring on Peanut. That involves pulling the switchgear apart for a makeover.
I repainted the position indicators after I buffed it all up.

A final polish and it should be ready to fit, assuming I can find some proper handlebars.
