Are they worth fitting to a 916 sps or is it best left alone?
Just wondered, it is fast enough for me, but a little extra power wouldnt hurt.:lol2:

You won't gain much in the lines of power (top end) but you will get more power across the rev range and smooth out the torque curve

Like the instructor(snigger)above says,Not a great power increase,4.5hp on my S4 but noticeably better from 3k to the limiter babababababababababa!

leave it as it is, use the cash (£300 goes an awful long way) to buy more gas and get more miles in.......about 3000 more......experience is the best way to ride better. And far more fun.

Yep you are right about the £300 going a long way, Just wanted to find out if the power increse was worth the money, I can keep up with my mates easily on the twisty stuff, its just bloody annoying when they fly past on the long straights.
I have a little experience 14 yrs is a almost half my life, but you never stop learning.

if you like me enjoy spending money on your bike then go for it, if anything it'll give u the psychological (sp?) advantage knowing you have 1 fitted !

which can only add more confidence lol

Yes you are right, I will see if I can afford it, need to do a few other thigs first.
I know my mates have gsxrs ect and they are stupidly fast, but its the Ducati that gets all the attention when we park up for a cuppa! :)

To be really boring and honest where's the fun in blasting past on the long straights anyway? Any gixxer mounted, mohican sporting throttle jockey can do that. It's probably at very illegal speeds and inherently dangerous anyway. Stuff 'em in the twisties - they shouldn't be able to live with you there, and have the sly grin when they get nicked for speeding.....:) You're right, the moment you stop learning is the moment you have the crash!

Couldn't agree more!
Your right there is no fun blasting down the straights!
Being 6"1 doesn't help much, a double bubble screen may help my cause!
I would rather not crash, I would hate to see my dream sliding down the road.

A DB screen is a def improvement as it directs the wind over your helmet and also onto your shoulders so taking the weight off your wrists. It was the first thing I bought for the 748. Tested to 140mph in France on the peage

I think that you answered your own question here mate........ ;)

Yep, GSXR's maybe faster, but only this year as next years HonKawaSuziYama something bigger, faster, lighter etc etc. BTW did your mates all wear the same trainers when they were at school??

Pick your mates off one by one in the twisties and then let them all come past one by one on the straights before doing em again when the road gets bendy. Repeat this until either your get bored (unlikely) or your mates stop being your mates (more likely)

LOL
No they don't all have the same bike, one gsxr, one zx10r, one R1 a fireblade and a bandit 1200. But they do like the same trainers haha.
Two of these guys are the sort of guys who have rubber hanging of the ends of their tyres so they dont mess about through the bends! The others are just straight line pussys!
Rock Jock I would love an example, I love watching the different lines people take through corners!

Don't get drawn into the trap as others have and not lived to regret it. If they are faster and better than you then it makes no difference what you ride they will pass you. As you look over your shoulder they will be alongside and past, but do yourself a favour and take the Durham advanced riders course and then you will learn quite a lot.

I have been riding with the same guys since I was 19, I am now 30, a couple of tham are a little crazy but I wont push to hard on the road its not worth it, I should be going on a track day with them this year that should be fun!
They choose 170 bhp modern 100cc jap bikes, I choose 1998 Ducati, I couldnt care less how fast they go really I just let them past on the straights, just wondered if a power comander was worth having on a 916?
I have seen some crashes and it certainly makes you think about what you are doing!
A course sounds like a good idea though.

Just fitted a power commander to 749. It does improve the power band. I bought a new one of ebay for 140 pounds and had Dynobike tune it for me for another 140 good value for me

In the following order

- Buy some lighter wheels
- change the gearing
- get a full 50 mill termi system
- power commander
