Project Superspurt

Dropped off the first page,just shows to go you how long i haven't touched it.
Still resisting the temptation to run with the standard(damaged) fairings on.
But .... helicoiled the rear caliper bolts as the threads were a bit ropey,1st time I've used a helicoil kit,excellent job :thumbs:.
Got another neutral switch in...still doesn't work,I've got the switch end soaking in wd40 as its a tiny bit sticky.


V5 came last week to,sorned it right away then got a message saying the bike has been unsorned since January,I may be getting fined !
The w*nk that had it before me obviously didn't bother renewing it/telling me to see to it(do you get reminders to sorn ?)...I should have thought to check it when i bought it but it was soon a pile of bits on the floor,I had no V5 or sign of a V5 (aforementioned w*nk couldn't find the old one) so sorning hadn't even crossed my mind :comp2:
 
Thanks to Iain(Dukess1999)for rummaging this old racing mono seat out for me :thumbs:...pity it wasn't 69 on the number board,I might have worked to keep it.........................................................

Stuck the standard undertray in,I think a wee trim at the sides and a slightly smaller plate would be ok ??

Because its a race seat it is open at the rear,standard for road bikes I think is more boxed in around the light....I don't know if the undertray with the standard light mounting takes up that space again ????

cheers Davie :thumbs:, I'll try sorting this one,its the SL style i want,I'm going to need brackets with rubbers for underneath though,there is a Guy on Ducatisti that's posted up a plan,sizes etc of the brackets for Diy purposes but being the lazy bastid that i am i try buying ready made ones first....don't know if ducati would still stock the support brackets for the SL seat :dunno:

I know of a guy who may have one for you. He got in touch when my slave cylinder seal went on the Fling after Milo had posted pics on a Tayside forum!

I am going to get in touch with him so will ask for you.

Who out there knows what Ducati models clutch slave cylinders are interchangeable for the St2 and for the 900ss?

There are only two types of Ducati clutch slave cylinders. The early type to around 2001 or so in which the piston comes out on the pushrod side

and the later type which is better sealed and has a large plug with a starry hole in the front of it.

The later type uses a pushrod that's about 10mm longer. So you'd need to use the pushrod that goes with it. The aftermarket cylinders use a short 10mm spacer to use when replacing an earlier slave.
Why don't you just buy an Oberon or MPL slave and be done with it?

Many thanks Doug but I have new seals ordered already :oc
upgraded ones are around £100,at this stage (that's the -keep costs down till we see if the bike works right-stage)if there is a £3 option for a new seal :D

Derek,managed to free off rear brake caliper nipple as soon as i got better access like you said ,by removing hose connection.Still no joy though.
Like Mike suggested I might try reverse filling it if i can rig up something to force the fluid in.

Thats the Oberon clutch slave cylinder fitted to the St2....its lightened the clutch and from what I have heard thats it sorted, no more slave seal, brake fluid etc under my seat now...:D

£89 well spent I think. Have you got your one done? :comp2:
 
Aye,got a super duper double edged seal for £3.50,its still as heavy as feck :D(ideal for my gubbed finger),but appears to be holding.Stuff like that will get replaced if the thing proves to be a goer.

Said to her who knows best this morning "I really need to get stuck into that project" ye can imagine the reply...para-phrasing "ok Darling crack on,afterall you haven't being doing much else the 5 months have you" ;);)

I love the simplicity,if only there wasn't all that sh1t hanging off the front of it...daytime mot ??!! (not decided on colours yet,I've only been at it nearly 6 months c'mon)

You can pick up a fairing easily enough and should be able to use the two mounting points on the existing frame for the lower two brackets.
I have just done something similar. Cheap way to produce a bike with a different look.

well it moves and under its own steam ! Up and down the path:D:D I've decided to bodge the standard fairings back up and get it all back together and see how it runs I just aint got the cash for what i want and rather than it sitting doing nothing I'll get her on the road at least.
I've tidied up the tank and got that on first and got her running,she started no bother the idle needs fettled a wee bit.If id had more fuel in her id have ran her down the street to,sounds great...luv an aircooled motor :hug:
 
and again...up and down the street this time.

Its a bit disconcerting seeing all the reek burning from a rebuilt bike though ,as long as none of it smells like burning oil ;)

hopefully just temp bodywork,old beat up fairings roughly repaired :o:o:o

need to get a complete set of supersport fairing bolts,spacers etc,anyone any leads,ebay is a bit of minefield i could easily end up buying the wrong stuff .

Still rear indi's to buy and fit,seat pads to cut and fit,try again at getting the rear brake bled and the clutch has air stuck in the short pipe that comes from the reservior,tried bleeding it from the banjo bolts,its just a wee psht if you flick the lever in a fraction and quickly,clutch action is fine though :dunno:

I've the headlight to align and I'll try and get a decent wee run on it then,all going well its going for mot. oooohh and decide what i'm doing for mirrors,fancy wee discreet bar end ones.
Patched up fairings/paint for now,stage2 superspurt will have wee bikini fairings and a full paint job.
(does anyone have a couple of the fairing bolts and big washers like the ones on the Supersport,I'm 2 short for my seat unit...even just the washers??)
