Just visiting
...I'm going to.

I am sick to death of people joining this forum with the sole purpose of selling their Ducati. Then we never hear from them again.

...bit if cheap advertising with no intention at all of becoming an active member or taking part in this great community.

I'd like to see it nipped in the bud - much like we recently saw last week.

There, said it. Then again, I've never been backward at coming forward!!! ;)

Ditto :D

If they sell their Ducati, why would we hear from them again.
If they join, act sensibly and someone gets a good deal I don't see a problem.
If however, the conduct themselves like that Bazz tw&t then thats different:D

Step away from the mini-bar Ed :p

Dunno where this came from. I dont have a problem with it in the slightest. Someone might get a deal out of it! And it could not just be a bike, maybe a bit of bling too.

Nice but dim idea.......

We've had it before and we'll have it again. There is some truth in the fact that we MAY see them again but it very rarely happens. It does seem predatory and to an extent should be "discouraged". Not sure exactly how though. Maybe a statement to the effect that a fee/donation is payable to the forum for any such listing. That way they don't get free advertising at least. Then we can see if they stick around.

...Voicing my opinion mate. It came from the depths of my pint glass last night!!!

It is my view on the matter. Simple as that. We can't control it, I understand that.

I agree with both of you - I don't see any problem with it at all and like you say - someone may get a cracker of a bike that they wouldn't otherwise....

live and let live Ed :)

We do have a 'for sale/wanted' on the forum and it's a chance for someone to buy a good bike, as has already been said.:)

There's also the chance that someone on here might know the bike and be able to offer extra information on it.:)

Think your all missing Ed's point, The membership of DUN just now is 1083 but in reality it could be 800 or 900 the rest have just come on here to sell something and then Fcuk off with no intention of coming back, So how can they be members????

I also agree some of us may get a good deal or a bargain with this but the membership total just becomes a farce because of this practice

Ed has got a Valid point :p

If you feel it's necessary to prevent folks from joining just to sell a bike then it shouldn't be hard for the admin to implement a rule so that users must have made a minimum numbers of posts (say 10) before they can create a thread in the For Sale / Wanted section but I don't think there's much to gain by it.

just to put my two pennorth in, i sold my duke,( or right rj i,m an embarrassment) but still like to come on the forum from time to time, but i do agree with both sides of the point, always was a fence sitter!!:lol2: by the way, didn,t sell it via the forum.

Jimmy, does it really matter what the number at the top says. After all I joined a mobile phone forum as I was too thick to work out how the thing worked for myself. Then I read the instuctions.......Ive also registered at Ducatisti and the ahem ***cough***.......DSC  ;)

I think Gizmo has said in the past that this is not a Club per say.......think of this place more like the local boozer where anyone and everyone can pop in for a pint. :) And maybe organise a round of golf!!! ;)

GOLF:eek: Well ok then, Just dont mention F@@tb@ll to me or Mad Dash:)

...I stand by my point, but I also take on board the other comments made on this thread. :)

Seriously, for a change from me.....there was a thread the same as this that sent another board t!ts up on this subject. Caused all sorts of bother and it wasnt very nice. I can see what youre saying but is it really worth all the hassle at the end of the day?

Anyone got a 58 degree lob-wedge for sale, Im having a real pain with shots of around 80-90 yards........;) :D

nah totally disagree with you on this one ed, but thats probably because im suave, intelligent and charming, which you obviously are not, but apart from that somebody might get a bargain and i dont have to read drivel like this :) :D :lol2:

...Nobody made you read it mate. ;)

...fcuk sake, I voice my opinion on something I feel strongly about, for the first time in ages writing something serious other than b0llocks on the forum and this is what I get.

Its a double edged sword really and has been covered on numerous forums at times.

Yes some do come on the forum just to sell their bike and never come back but maybe if they do that then when or if they get another Duke they may come back as they sold their previous one through the site and everyone was friendly etc. Maybe they have been watching the site for years and have never posted as they had nowt to say.

Its a difficult one really. DSC has mooted having members posting a certain amount of times before being able to advertise their stuff for sale but the majority disagreed.

Personally, I think as long as its a private seller it should be alright. If its a trader then thats a different matter......

...Gord, Ignore me, it was very late, I was tired and

...YES IT WAS TOYS OUT OF THE PRAM!!!!!  :D :D :D

I could be wrong but I thought all for sale adverts had to be approved by admin before getting released on the main forum ?

Either way, if someone gets a bargain then fair play !
