Hi all,
Been quite some time since I have posted on here, I have been on very occasionally without posting heh, just been lurking see how folk are doing. Before we get down too it, guess since its been ages I gota get the drinks in again.... tab at the bar pull up a chair get ya sell a drink, and let me know what your doing these days for spannering in the n.east.
My s4rs sadly went last week an awesome bike if I could afford more than one bike it would of been kept for life i think, but a new duc love affair begins.
Back to the racereps it's been few years since i've been on a crotch rocket, so going to be a little while not too long hopefully too get accustomed but will be very much a fun learning process
Anyway ramble ramble, reason for this post:
Duke servicing, most know ducati are attempting to reduce the costs of servicing esp with there new models a good move too entice new customers who may of given it a miss due to upkeep costs.
Belt checks for one seem too be dropped from new model first services reducing labour times, and intervals have been increased again. Scans of letters sent out from ducati to dealerships of recommended service costs labour hours, whats required etc are readily available on the old interweb, but it seems either dealers are unaware of this reduction or are simply ignoring it.
(*Note I obviously can not account for all dealers, and dont want this thread to sound like im rubbishing them all, not the case
My bike was not purchased locally due to unable too supply, so I will not benefit from reduced first service costs.
Local dealer quoted, £155 for first service which to be frank is a bit of a giggle for:
1hour labour
nut bolt check
drop oil / filter
Its that old catch 22, a service I could do myself, but get screwed over on the warranty, or pay through the nose for a stamp.
So what are you guys doing for servicing these days?, n.east near Newcastle.
1\ do it yourself sod the warrenty (not too keen)
2\ Anyone use anyone that are not normally associated with dukes? (not 100% sure where I stand on warranty with this)
3\ Anyone know of anyone that used to work for a ducati dealer, loves dukes, got stamp, does a cracking job, and doesnt take the @@@@? (i wish)
Hopefully there are options, and local duke dealers dont have the monopoly.
Any constructive advice highly appreciated.
and /wave /nod all
