A diavel with different bodywork?

When is the Ducati scooter due then

(I do apologise, guess I've been reading too many of Rockjocks posts :lol2:)

A diavel with different bodywork?

It's going to be tough to differentiate between :

the Diavel - a naked bike with a detuned 1198 engine
the Streetfighter - a naked bike with a detuned 1198 engine
the big Monster - a naked bike with a detuned 1198 engine

Clearly it's much easier to use an existing engine to make a new model, but at this rate they'll just be competing with themselves?

Price wise it will surely sit between the 2 street fighters - 12k - 13k - Im confused as to who would buy this now the Streetfighter is an established niche

 The Diavel already makes more power than the MTS1200 due to bigger airbox / exhaust. The Streetfighter is the "sporty" naked bike, the Diavel the "cruiserish" naked bike, so the Monster with liquid cooled engine will be the "sporty-cruiserish" model? Maybe they could supply it with a half fairing and panniers and confuse the issue with the Multistrada and Hyperstrada as well!

Maybe they'll do something radical like fit them all with slightly different mirrors?! ;)

In reality nothing different as they already do an 1100 Monster this will replace that with a higher spec engine than the current 1200
There will only be an 848 SF next year no bigger engined version

That's the point, the 1100 Monster has a completely different engine, with different power and torque characteristics and also looks neat and tidy (no plumbing or radiators) into the bargain.

Deleteing the big Streetfighter makes sense, and I guess they will price the Monster lower than the Diavel, but the choice between them will still be confusing, unless they knock the power of the monster down (and not up as you suggested in your earlier post) to help differentiate it.

For anyone like me who only reads the paper MCN when it's wrapped around their chips, there are more photos here:

Is that an oil cooler or a stone collector at the bottom in front of the engine?

It may be good commercial sense to phase out the streetfighter which was never a big seller and replace it with a similar bike under the monster family. The monster is Ducati's top selling bike and probably saved it from going bust.

i get the feeling that some people are not happy about Ducati being owned by AUDI
so here is the ducati version deke :)
