Selling classics

Bit shocked to hear my dad say that he wishes i didnt bring the classics home after lending them to Ducati Manchester over the weekend.
That was the first time they had been out of the house since he built them, and he swore he wouldnt sell them. He even suggested i keep them at mine in the house alongside the others  sadly room is a bit tight and i have to retire the RC30 one day before i wear it out.
It seems he cant be bothered with hassle, and with them out of the way at the weekend it gave him time to move stuff around for the 175 elite and 200 he is building.
So if anyone saw them last weekend and fancies a 100% original 1974 ? blue 250 thing, and a 1969 red 350 thing (one with the chrome and red tank) then let us know.
Other option i bet ducati themselves are looking for 100% original classics down to tyres and nuts for their collections. wonder if they want them ? :(
I know he was talking about £5500 for the blue one, and £9500 for the red one. i know this is daft money for an old bike, but its safe money in terms of investment, and i bet both of these are the closest you would ever find to a brand new one in terms of originality and condition. those that saw them and knew thier classics would possibly agree.
anyway not impressed if he flogs my inheritance

Pics thanks to freak
The 350 is this one closest, the 69 with the single fuel cap and slimmer tank

The 250 is the nearest one in this pic.

The blue one is a Mark III and the red one is a Desmo.
Sorry but those prices are completely unrealistic and nigh on double current market values. So does he really want to sell them? That's not to denigrate the condition of the bikes & time effort & money that has gone into them, but you will rarely recoup the expense of restorations unless someone is paying you to do it. So get him to fire them up go for a ride and thrash the T!TS off them!

Lol good call, sadly the desmo isnt registered, the 250 is though. not really my cup of tea with the gear change and brakes on the wrong side. real recipie for disaster that.

I think you'll find that they are actually on the right side. Uncle Sam made everyone   put them on the wrong side back in the late seventies circa 1978.

Lovely looking bikes in the photos (which can sometimes flatter) and don't doubt they are as good as they look. Must agree with Arj on valuation front though. Five figure money tends to be reserved for rarer bevel twins in excellent condition (ex the 750 Supersport which would make that "rough" I suspect) but at the end of the day a bike is worth what someone will pay for it. I have heard people tell me what they paid for a single or twin and wince at the price but the fact is that this is a bit like a re-run of the late eighties when cars were bought as an investment. Ducati are being seen as a likely investment and it will be interesting to see how far the prices go. I bought my bikes because I wanted them for what they were and want to use them and the value at the moment is of no consequence as I am not selling. As for "wrong" side gears etc I have not had a problem with the side it is remembering the gears are 1 up 4 down. You tend only to get it wrong once!:) Good luck if he does sell them.

you must mean on the right side, its only since those bloody orientals got it all wrong that weve had to change:D

True, when you think about it, it makes far more sense to have the brakes on one side only. i suspect after 20 odd years of riding you get stuck in your ways and i dont think i would adapt, as my dad says, its fine trying to ride if thinking but in case of emergency often you find yourself going down a gear and not braking.
remember when i had a ford probe (ok dont laugh pls) if anyone pulled out on me i gave them a damnn good squirt of the windscreen washers. :)
