Went out for a wee hurl on the ST today.Roads were dry and clear!
Turned into a side street in Ayr ,accelerated up to 30 and the rear wheel just came round to meet me! Ended up sliding along the road for a good few yards!For no apparent reason,the bike just went!!! I checked the road and it was fine,wee bit damp but nothing major,certainly wouldnt call it wet! Anyhoo,main thing is bikes ok apart from needing a new lower faing and the brake lever put back into position,oh yeh and the feckn mirror put back on,which Im dreading!!!!!
A wee wake up call I think !I was sure the road was fine!
Meant to say SLIDEY!!!!!!! IM A FUD!!!!

The roads werent necessarily bad today, just greasy. Not enough to cause cars a problem but defo bikes

Been dry for a while now, and then a bit of drizzle today, so on my way home from town this afternoon I decided to (safely) test the road grip on roundabouts by accelerating the same in the car if it was dry coming off the roundabout, and the tyres ended up spinning up/car oversteering nearly everytime.
Not much difference in speed or driving conditions, and my car has all the sports setup and sports tyres, and I know the limits of when my car loses traction in both wet & dry, so I hope no one thinks I was driving irresponsibly.

So given the slippy conditions without appearing to be wet/slippy I will not be surprised if there were a few bike "offs" today.

Good to hear you are ok and the damage to the bike is cosmetic. At least you have a few months to get things shipshape before the good weather comes (or at least, is expected!)

Glad your ok mate, gritters were out in killie at 3pm this afternoon spreading salt everywhere

Glad to hear you're okay Paul and that there is no lasting damage to either you or the bike.

The roads look okay in most places but seem to have an 'invisible' layer of greasiness (if that's a word). Is it a residue from the gritting?

Hi M,I honestly dont know where it came from which is worrying.The rear wheel just seemed to slide to the left and the bike went down. Greasiness works for me!!
