tank screw broken

"When I bought the bike, the screw was broken off inside and the rubber grommet was snapped. I ordered the new screw and grommet, but they don't seem to fit...

I don't understand how it was originally set up; if you look closely, there are still remains of the old grommet in the screw hole.

Could someone take a photo of their own bike so I can understand how it's supposed to be mounted? Thanks!"

That looks like a fugley. It looks like the flatter part of the rubber bung is no longer there but the fat part is still in the hole?

You say the screw/bolt? was broken off. Is a part of the screw/bolt still in the thread thats still inside the rubber?

i can't figure out if the previous owner mounted it wrong or did some DIY fix.

the diagram shows no washer and one grommet, my grommet thus seems mounted backwards according to the diagram.


ALSO, when i got the bike, the screw was just lying inside broken, and there was another grommet just like on the right side. (there are 2, one on each side, on the right side)

i bought another one thinking it would replace it but the one that broke off was different, trying to figure out if it was some DIY BS or i'm missing something. bc according to diagram the left side has only one, not 2 like on the right side as it was when i got the bike.


if anyone still has the OEM setup, pics would help a lot.

That looks like at the back you can see the silver colouredring at the back which would be number 3 on the diagram. I'd be looking to take all of that out just to see what's going on

They’re different parts.

You need 2 of this type on the RH side, one pushed into the frame hole from each side.

And one of these on the LH side which is pushed into the frame hole from the front.

Edit : I thought the part numbers were on the photo. The top photo is 76410571A, the lower photo is 76410581A

What Paul said really. RHS screw carries a washer as the od of the rubber grommet is smaller.
If by broken screw you mean it’s sheared, then you’ll need to replace the mount… parts 1 or 8 depending which is damaged
